Here’s how the portrait of my draenei death knight, Casmiron turned out. I hope people like it!
Casmiron’s Lair
If he squinted at it in the low light, it almost looked like a home.
Casmiron had had plenty of time to make his hideout - a cave in the wilderness - as civilized as he could. There was no hearth nor stove, as he had no need for either warmth or food anymore, but it had a throw rug, table and chairs, and even a worn-out bed, which he had purloined from an abandoned farm house. It was almost civilized enough to trick an observer into thinking a living person used the space.
Scattered over the table were an assortment of tools and a whetstone, which he used to keep his armor and sword in good condition. These items were upon his person at almost all times, and while they filled him with revulsion, they were for all practical purposes extensions of himself.
Although he’d lost all personal belongings of his past life in his Change, the death knight collected anything he could find that helped remind him of who he once was. His old life was no more than a memory, but it provided some guidance, a light in the otherwise murky and perilous sea of undeath.
The blood hunger was gnawing at him yet again. Nothing short of slaying sapient opponents in battle was enough to quench the rising anxiety and irritation. He’d tried to overcome it in the past, but that path led to madness. He knew it, with the same certainty he knew that he was a monster.
Casmiron tacked up his undead charger. With a thunder of hooves, he vanished from the scene.
Here’s a portrait of my draenei death knight, Casmiron I’ve been working on. I’m trying a technique of painting all the values in grayscale before adding color.
Casmiron rescues Xamasyn
This is a continuation of an old RP scenario that I felt inspired to add to. Xamasyn belongs to @smith-hadeon.
Casmiron’s Lair (Part 2)
The steady din of the rain outside could be heard from Reginald’s hiding place. Rumbles of thunder soon joined in as well. It sounded like he and Emma had found shelter from the storm just in time.
Outside, Casmiron was approaching the cave on horseback. He was soaked to the bone, his shoulders slumped, his horse walking on its own without instruction. The obsessive compulsions of his bloodlust had been sated for the time being, but he never felt any real satisfaction as a result of his actions.
The sensation of a living soul nearby registered on his necrotic senses as brilliantly as a shaft of sunlight, and he sat up board-straight, the horse coming to a halt. Someone was here - Had the worst happened, and his hiding place been discovered? Gathering up the reins, he continued on with far more caution. From what his death knight’s senses told him, there was only one sentient soul present - or were there two? - but he was unable to discern more than that.
Maybe it was a lost traveler. But it could have also been someone waiting to kill him. Death knights were seen by many people as dangerous, and it wasn’t outside the realm of possibility that a paladin or battle priest had arrived to relieve him of his unnatural existence.
Perhaps it would not be bad to go willingly, he thought glumly to himself.
Casmiron slipped off the back of the deathcharger. Drawing his sword, he approached the mouth of the cave. There was only one way inside, and clad in full plate, the death knight was not particularly stealthy. Whoever was there might try to strike out at him in order to escape.
Finished art of Casmiron.
Still working on Casmiron. It’s going to be a challenge to get this completed before classes start for me next week. I was asked to cover extra work shifts for a coworker who had a death in the family this week as well, but hopefully I’ll manage my time and it’ll work out.
@smith-hadeon gave me some encouraging words on this half-finished portrait of Casmiron and now I’m attempting to finish rendering it.
