Hopping out of his truck, Alex felt his boots thud against the ground of Babbling Brookes. It had been a four whole months since he had been to the stables, the longest he had gone without seeing Cass since her accident. With Cass being on the mend and everything going on back at Terrell, Alex had been forced to forego a more regular visit for the time being. But that was no longer a problem. The last four months felt like a blur. Hell, the past four days alone felt like they should’ve taken a good few months to transpire. Thank god for modern medicine. Alex walked over to the trailer and checked through the spaces that Cici was alright and still have enough hay and water to keep her for a bit while he checked in with Cass. The horse seemed better than she had the night before, now a little more used to being in the trailer. “I know, girly. You won’t have to be in there much longer,” he promised before leaving her to walk up the front porch to the house.
He clutched a large batch of cookies in one hand, lovingly put in a Tupperware by their mom a couple of days before. Not fresh-out-of-the-oven good, but definitely better than no cookies. Without another thought he knocked on the door and waited for his sister.
