The sights before her left a bittersweet feeling inside of her chest; Adora’s eyes wandering to the lake that was lit up with more candles than she could even count. It was beautiful, in a way; almost like fireflies dancing on the surface of the water, but the meaning behind these flames distracted her from being able to really enjoy them.
She knew this was for those who had managed to leave this place; the friends they had made sending off wishes of good will and health, to wherever they ended up.. but, Adora knew no such people yet. The only friends she had, the ones who held such a large part of her heart had not made an appearance in this world, and each day that passed by made her miss them more than she could even describe. Maybe this event wasn’t meant for her, specifically, but she wouldn’t feel right without doing something for them.
In her hands were two lit candles; one for Bow, and one for Glimmer. As she brought herself down to her knees next to the water, they lowered on top of the surface; the gentle current soon pulling the flames away from her. As she watched, Adora suddenly felt tears pricking her eyes; bringing her fingers upwards to wipe them away. She wanted nothing more than to see them again; to know that they were safe, and still happy.. but when would she be able to be by their sides, where she belonged?
Hearing soft footsteps behind her, Adora blinked; quickly wiping the rest of her tears away as someone drew closer to where she sat. Right, she wasn’t the only person here; she shouldn’t have let her guard down so easily, but it was difficult for her not to.
“S-sorry, I’ll.. get out of your way,” she spoke suddenly, her eyes trained elsewhere as to not let the stranger see her crying. She hadn’t looked up to see who it was, but if they were here, they probably wanted a moment by themselves, too.
