Exploration of the modern tape labels (see my previous post) led me to discovery of amazing avant/indie scene in my home country. I, for a long time, thought that the best days of independent music in Poland were in the 80s with the post-punk/cold wave movement blooming just under the surface of the mainstream rock. But now I think the best time for the new, exploratory music in my country is right now. And it’s on tapes. There is so many grounbreaking stuff puting out by independent, home-run micro-labels! There is electronic music, there is guitar based music, there is sound manipulations and everything in between. I often hear the opinion that everything in music already happened in the past.
