Planning period tape no. 2 for #cassetteappreciationweek by @karenvinylgirl is the inimitable Django Reinhardt (with Stephane Grappelli and the Quintette du Hot Club de France), spotted in my collection shot by @awazag . I’ve been a die hard Django fan since I read a Jimmy Page interview in high school that mentioned his incredible playing with a left hand disfigured in a fire and picked up a compilation on CD. The bad news is that this cassette sounds dreadful—it has that bad digital noise reduction that makes it sound like someone is always messing with the volume knob. The good news is that on the portable player (rather than the good deck in my hifi), the fidelity isn’t good enough to hear the ill effects.
