The birth of Cassian Solis was meant to be a celebration of love and family. Instead, it awakened haunting memories from his grandparents. Queen Arianna was stricken by how similar her daughter’s labor was to her own. It was like she was in the past watching herself, seeing her son-in-law Eugene look as worried and helpless as her dear Frederic, seeing the physicians anxiously try to stop the bleeding and assure the princess all was well. But Arianna knew better than that.
She also knew that the only reason her daughter and grandson survived was because of whatever leftover sun magic remained inside Rapunzel. She could tell that none was left in her daughter in the end. Her grandson had inherited every last drop. When it was over and mother and child were confirmed to be in good standing, the royal physician delivered the final harrowing news. Rapunzel would never have another child again, not without risking her life and the child’s in the process.
Cassian would be Rapunzel and Eugene’s only child, the only heir to Corona de Luz. The Sol Prince became the sole prince.
