Cassidy’s on Camden Street Lower

Located just down the road from The Bleeding Horse this old pub seemed a natural stopping point on my drinking tour. Cassidy’s is a very classically decorated pub with tan walls, wood interior, and high ceilings. The pub goes quite far back, so while it looks small from the road it is actually a decent size place. A bar covers almost the entire left wall, so there is plenty of room to sit and enjoy a drink or find a spot to grab a drink if it is busy. Along the right wall there is bench seating with tables and stools as well as mirrors on the walls. 

  As you head to the back of the pub, there is a large room with a bench across the back to provide even more seating. And out back there is a smoking area with tables for all of those that want to fill their lungs with smoke. I chose to sit up near the front of the pub at one of the tables across from the bar and enjoy my whiskey. This pub has all the charm and style I would look for in an Irish pub.  I am sure I will be back at some point for another drink.

Peter Murphy - Portland Dec 3 - Want to go?

PETER MURPHY plays the Hawthorne in Portland Saturday Dec 3. I had to miss him the last few times he toured because of medical or chair stuff. I would like love commit crimes to go! It's less than $30.

Here's the thing: The night before, here in Eugene, at the WoW Hall, CHRIS ROBINSON is playing. I haven't seen Chris is ages, and because I heard about his show first, I'm already committed to attending. So that means I won't be able to take the train or bus up to Portland on Friday (Saturday schedules aren't looking promising to get me to the Hawthorne in time, either).

However, I KNOW that there are some of you, locally and in my social networks, that like Mr. Murphy almost as much as I do, so I'm proposing we plan a day, or night, or weekend, in Portland for the show. You provide me with a ride and I'll compensate you in some as-yet-to-be-determined fashion* If you want, we can even check out the fabulous food from the new chefs† at Cassidy's before the show (that's a bit of an incentive, by the way, perhaps even a bribe...).

She Wants Revenge is opening for Peter, if that's of interest to any people who potentially join me.

†I can personally vouch for the talent of at least one of these amazing culinary artists; I've known her since before she could hold a knife.
