book 10 thoughts n spoilers

hhhholy carp..... guys. guyyys i finally read it omfg ch15 a freaking ROLLERCOASTER. i actually physically choked at quint's death i thought he was gone 4 good. i thought JACK was gone 4 good too dude did not seem ok

i was reading the entire thing from 2-4am to the sounds of my dogs howling around me because we all were locked downstairs and none of us could sleep..but thats a different story. point is emotions were high and i was slightly delirious and the experience was so cinematic i have to recommend everyone read this book after 20 hours of no sleep.

after its done tho, reflecting on the writing after i slept a decent bit. not my favorite book. maybe even my least favorite. jack overcoming rezzoch bc he "knew he'd never be able to hurt his friends" jst didnt. really make sense to me..

book 3 rezzoch tries to exploit that care, not fight it. like the motivational wretch vision it gives him is jack WITH all his friends. yea ik he says no in the end but he does kinda imply his answer would've been different under different circumstances "comic book store full of superheroes is the wrong place to try to convince someone to turn to the dark side"

i feel like that sorta threat implied that if jack had agreed to the book 3 deal, his friends wouldve been spared from the world destructing. so WHY is it acting just now like there's no possible way to have jack as a servant and also keep 3 (ig 2 at the time) other humans alive???? it couldnt have made like a lil pocket dimension or smth to hold them while jack assists in the destruction of everything ELSE?? like i wasnt expecting jack to actually accept a deal like that, just bugged me rezzoch didnt even treat it as an option.....

also the hammer is ugly as heck. could've been a baseball bat, yk, the weapon it'd been turning into all the time. something slightly less clunky than a meat hammer 3x the size of jack's entire body mass.. ALSO the hand was proven to have its own agenda/thoughts outside of jack's in book 9 so i was all hyped for him to be talking to it but noo.. it gets turned into an object. jack already has a whole lotta issues around feeling "other" around his friends and i think the hand couldve been like a physical manifestation of those thoughts..

all in all felt like they were trying to play this book as safe as they could. like ik its a book targeted at 11-14 year olds but still.. they've done serious stuff before....

anyway criticisms aside i really did love this book. as much as i like to pick at the writing i SWEAR this is like my favorite franchise... amazing wracksaw content that guy is so cool.. also love to see quint leaning into his crackpot playing with fate and chaos magic side hhholy bejesus ch15 scared me.............. oc doodle to wrap up the post and godbwye

i feel like i get withdrawal when i don't draw for too long. like i spent all week studying for exams and felt like crap and the moment i had a free evening i immediately spent 5 hours nonstop drawing.

it's not an addiction but i think i have become heavily dependent on it emotionally
