Water again with another bby boy, but this time, one who’s made of MONEY MONEY MONEY™
Is that THEO JAMES scavenging for food onshore? Nah, it’s just MARCUS CAVANAUGH, the THIRTY-year-old PHYSICIAN from FIRST Class! Word has it, HE took the flight to Bali because HE WANTED TO VISIT HIS FIANCEE WHO WAS DOING HUMANITARIAN WORK IN INDONESIA. The flight attendants said they can be DEBONAIR, RETICENT, and PRAGMATIC. How long do you think would it take before they turn batshit crazy? (water, 19, gmt+8, she/her, none)
TW: CORPORAL PUNISHMENT
BACKSTORY
Marcus Cavanaugh has it all -- a booming practice in Neurosurgery, a 118.5 million-dollar-penthouse in the New York Ritz, a top-of-the-line black Audi R8 Spyder, an English Mastiff named Jack, and a smoking hot fiancee who does humanitarian work when she’s not starring in the next blockbuster.
He was born in an affluent American family that prided itself in its involvement in politics. His father was a Senator, and his grandfather before that. His mother was a modern-day Jackie Kennedy -- all brains, all grace, all love of country. His sister, on the other hand, currently heads a very successful law firm in Manhattan. She’s vying for the Senate as well, and after that, the Presidency.
Growing up, Senator Cavanaugh kept an iron grip on his only son. He beat the scrawny boy mercilessly for the smallest of faults.
All that negative reinforcement wasn’t really effective at making him bend to his father’s will, however. Marcus turned out to be the black sheep of the family, taking the path of medicine instead of law.
When he was a little boy, he tended to like the cloying smell of disinfectant that was characteristic of hospitals. He was also fascinated with the thought of saving lives with the use of a scalpel and a pair of forceps, among other things.
To the dismay of his father and to the delight of his ever-supportive mother, he attended Harvard from Pre-Medicine up to his Medical Proper. Throughout his years of study, he pushed his limits just to spite his father and prove him wrong. After several more years, he received his license to practice Neurosurgery.
Marcus worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital before the plane crash. He established his high credibility there, and is now able to finance his luxuries through his own pockets. He keeps in touch with both his mother and his sister, but he has not fully reconciled with his father.
CHARACTERISTICS + MISC.
Rich af
He’s confident, elegant, and well-read. He has an intense look that makes him seem very intimidating to a passerby. However, his close friends know him for being a gentle and caring guy.
HE IS A WORKAHOLIC. He has this really luxurious penthouse over at the Ritz but he rarely sleeps in it because of his work. If he’s not working on brain trauma and such, you can find him reading medical journal upon medical journal, gobbling new knowledge greedily so that he could improve his practice.
He tended to jump from fling to fling -- most of which he met in galas or in hotel bars. When he was introduced to his current fiancee, he didn’t feel the need to transfer to another woman anymore. They’ve been together for a year now. He proposed to her a month ago.
Other than her current fiancee -- let’s name her Natalka, there was only one person he really loved, and that was Lara (hi omg).
Marcus is a can within a can within a can. Without the right tool, it’s nearly impossible to make him open up. He trusts only a few people and even then, he doesn’t trust them fully. Even though she already has his engagement ring on her finger, Natalka only knows the lightest parts of his childhood.
Marcus, above all, is a practical, practical man. On top of that, he has a highly logical mind. You can never catch him being idle, nor doing something crazy out of pure whim. That might change on the island, however.
That's all for now. Like this post if you want me to drop by your messages to plot!
Is that BOB MORLEY scavenging for food onshore? Nah, it’s just TUCKER ASHWOOD, the TWENTY SEVEN-year-old MARINE from ECONOMY Class! Word has it, HE took the flight to Bali because HE’S VACATIONING ON LEAVE. The flight attendants said they can be IRASCIBLE, ALTRUISTIC, and ADAPTABLE. How long do you think would it take them to turn batshit crazy?
heyyy i’m real awful at intro posts, but i’m liv! i live in the est timezone, and i use she/her pronouns. this is my idiot son tucker, and if you’d like to get to know him better you can read one long ass novella of an intro post. if you like this post, i’ll hit you up for plots asap!
trigger warning: ptsd, war violence
tucker. tucker. where do we begin with tucker.
james ashwood had the best of intentions for his two kids. he was going to be the picture perfect father, at every soccer game, attending dance recitals, costumes for their birthday parties, ice cream on the weekends. the only problem was, after he came back from iraq, things like that were a little more… difficult.
things like picking his kids up from school were suddenly insurmountable, when he could barely get out of bed, each truck backfiring sounding like a bullet, fireworks on the fourth of july echoing just like bombs.
but tucker was there to pick up the slack. teegan, get dressed for school, teegan, did you do your homework? teegan, i packed your lunch, no, i didn’t forget the strawberries, teegan, you can’t punch that little boy just because he’s mean to you… well, just don’t get caught next time, lemme show you how to break his nose.
somehow tucker grew up to fit the mold of exactly what his father had wanted to be. the day of his eighteenth birthday he signed up for the marine corps, knowing that being away from his baby sister would be harder than whatever else boot camp threw at him.
his first tour in iraq wasn’t as bad as he expected. but tucker had never feared war. no, he feared what came after it.
but tucker never would’ve called himself lucky. his first tour was nearly over, entirely uneventful, but he shouldn’t have thought he would be so easy. he heard it before he saw it. didn’t even look up in time to see the tank in front of him explode into pieces.
most of that day became a blur to him, though he never forgot all of it. there were parts he could never forget.
he made it to the end of his tour with one thought on his mind. by the time he made it out, he’d have enough saved to fly out and see his baby sister graduate. it was the proudest day of his whole damn life, and the brightness that sparkled in her eyes when he showed her the tickets to bali almost made everything worth it.
needless to say things arent going suuuuuuper well for tuck right now. i don’t exactly have a lot of plots right now except to say that i’m available for some serious angsty/dramatic shit so throw your ideas at me. also i maybe have a little plot idea but its developing and would involve at least a few people so if you’re interested.... ;)
Alright, so yesterday I completely forgot to make an introduction post but it’s here!! I’m Alex and right now I’m pretty much stuck at home taking care of my sick dog during my summer break so I will most likely be on a lot. Okay enough about me lets talk about my little baby Cyrus (If that’s even his real name.)
Cyrus is 30 years old, Pisces. He was born in Texas and he spent most of his life with his parents on their farm outside of Granbury, Texas. Really he had a pretty normal childhood even if his father tended to drink to much and whenever his dad got drunk it was guaranteed he would come back home furious and take it out on him or his mom. He knew it was wrong but he never really thought anything of it, he simply learnt how to fight back.
When he turned eighteen years old he joined the military. Really the rangers were his life for three years or well until he had the opportunity to become a CIA secret agent. The training was long and painful and pretty much the second it was over he was shipped over to Russia where he worked as an undercover agent for nearly seven years. The mission was a success and he was sent back to America.
Once he got back home he was instantly put on another mission, this time a drug lord in New York. It should have been easy, he befriended the boss and gained his trust but after two years of staying undercover his cover was blown and he had a target on his head. They wanted him dead and the only proper thing he could do was to get out of the country for a while, so of course he picked Bali, and of course the damn plane crashed. It’s just his luck.
During his missions he never really had a life on his own. He had plenty of secrets he had to keep to stay a life but he was never able to make real friends or even fall in love so in a sick and twisted way he was relieved when he found himself stuck on a beach, far away from the life he was running away from.
Put his personality. Alright he’s obviously really secretive, he doesn’t share anything about his life, sure he might tell people some stories that is most likely a complete bullshit and of course his name is most likely not Cyrus. But even if he keeps things to himself he’s really wants to help everyone. He wants to take care of people and make sure they aren’t in need of anything.
Okay I think that’s it for now? I’m going to post a starter in a moment and reply to other starters and of course if you want to plot then let me know!
Is that DOMINIC SHERWOOD scavenging for food onshore? Nah, it’s just MARCUS FOX, the TWENTY-NINE-year-old PHYSICIAN from ECONOMY Class! Word has it, HE took the flight to Bali because HE WAS HIRED TO WORK FOR DOCTORS WITHOUT BOARDERS AND WAS GIVEN INSTRUCTION TO PRACTICE THERE. The flight attendants said they can be PERCEPTIVE, WITHDRAWN, and KINDHEARTED. How long do you think would it take them to turn batshit crazy?
Hello! Hello! I’m Cleo and I am so excited to be a part of this lovely roleplay! Before I get into all of Marcus’s stuff, let me tell you just a little bit about myself. I’m 26, live in Eastern Standard timezone, and work as a teacher (which 400% means I’m off for summer break at the moment!)! I’m always, always down to plot, so feel free to send me a message, or if you like this I’ll do my best to remember to send you one. I’m getting old so, you know, no promises. ;)
BULLET BIOGRAPHY;; trigger warning: drug abuse & drug addiction
Marcus was never meant to be. His parents, Rebecca Fox and Paul McGill, met at a Dallas, Texas strip club during his father’s bachelor party. Drunk, his mother and father went back to his hotel together, and the next day Paul left without a word and got married. The fateful encounter left Rebecca with more than just memories, she had become pregnant with a near-stranger’s child. Despite a lack of resources she decided to keep the pregnancy though it meant losing her job at the club.
For the first few years of his life, Marcus never realized that there was anything different about his family. Sure, he didn’t have a father like some of the other children, but his mother was lively and fun and he didn’t really think it important.
It wasn’t until he got to school that he started to ask questions. Suddenly, characters in storybooks had fathers, most other children had fathers, and even his teachers had fathers. This was strange. How was it that everyone else had one but he didn’t? His mother explained to the best of her ability, but it wasn’t easy and nor was raising a son all by herself.
By the time Marcus was ten, his mother had begun using. She had been an addict prior to his birth, and eventually the stress of motherhood and the struggle to keep the little family afloat became too much. Marcus was no fool, he noticed the change in his mother right away and it concerned him greatly. This time, however, he asked no questions and covered for his mother when teachers or other parents members asked about her.
By the time Marcus made it to high school he was working after school to help pay to support his family. His mother needed constant attention and care, and Marcus was willing to provide it in the hopes that he could get her back on her feet. It was through this routine, through caring for his mother, that he found that he loved the work and set his sights for college. Though he didn’t have spectacular grades in high school, he was able to attend a state school and to get on the pre-med track.
College was a stressful time, both because he worried about being away from his mother and because there was a great deal of pressure for him to achieve if he wanted to attend medical school. Still, he was set upon his dreams and constantly pushed himself to do better, to be better, and because of this he was able to attend a top ranking medical school.
This was not without sacrifice, however. Without Marcus around to help care for her, his mother fell back into her old ways and ended up in rehab a half dozen times in the time that he was an undergraduate. Marcus wants desperately to see her get better, but he has made the decision to live his life as he needs to in order to be happy. Despite this, he feels a great deal of guilt.
During medical school and his residency, Marcus finally found himself reaching out and making friends. Though the work was challenging, he genuinely enjoyed it and found that he had a knack for the medical profession. He adored the doctors and nurses that he worked with and became quite fond of his patients no matter how maddening they could be. At this time, he decided to become an emergency room physician in the hopes of helping people like his mother.
As he approached graduation, and tried to decide what he ought to do, a mentor pointed him to Doctors Without Borders Program and he applied. He went through the process, growing more and more excited about it as he got further, and was finally given the opportunity to practice in Bali. Though Marcus was heartbroken for his mother, he was excited for the opportunity to go to a new place and start over.
Marcus flew from Dallas to New York, connected at John F. Kennedy to Paris, and was on his way to Bali when the plane crashed. At present, he’s trying to find whatever he can of his materials so that he can start to check on the surviving passengers all whilst trying to push thoughts of his responsibilities and his mother to the back of his mind.
WANTED CONNECTIONS;;
The Stabilizer - Someone who can help ease Marcus’s tension without necessarily meaning to. There is something about their presence that puts him at ease and over time he will come to rely on them. -- { OPEN, please discuss with mun }
The Aid - There are fifty surviving passengers, and Marcus could certainly use a helping hand. Whether they’re trained in the medical field or simply wish to help out, this is someone that Marcus can rely on to help out. -- { OPEN }
The Companion - Perhaps they’re not the most likely duo, given their backgrounds, but this is someone that Marcus simply seems to get along with. They laugh at the same things and enjoy spending time together. -- { OPEN }
The Ex - As they say, it’s a small world. By some stroke of luck, or quite the opposite depending upon their relationship, Marcus and his ex ended up on the same flight. Though it is a bit uncomfortable, it’s nice to have a familiar face around. -- { OPEN }
The Catalyst - From the first moment, some incident in the security line or as they were getting on the flight, they butted heads. It’s as if their distaste for one another is chemical. They squabble when they’re together, almost without exception. -- { OPEN }
Is that KATHERINE MCNAMARA scavenging for food onshore? Nah, it’s just ARIEL WINTERS, the TWENTY-THREE year-old US PRESIDENT'S DAUGHTER from FIRST Class! Word has it, SHE took the flight to Bali because SHE HAD A MEETING WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF INDONESIA. The flight attendants said they can be TENACIOUS, RESOLUTE, and GRACEFUL. How long do you think would it take them to turn batshit crazy?
Hi, everyone! I’m Victoria and I’d like you to meet Ariel, my baby diplomat. Before I start, I guess I have to say some things about me. I’m 17, my timezone is UTC but I’m mostly online, I suck at saying things about me, I have one more year until I finish highschool and I’d love to plot with all of you! So please, like this post or send me a message if you want to plot! I’m now going to list a few bulletpoints about Ariel.
TRIGGERS: (soft) blood mention tw.
Ariel is twenty-three, an only child in the Winters family. She grew up surrounded by politics, her father had always been pretty strict with her about her behavior and image. She discovered her diplomatic skills at the age of sixteen, by accident, when her father was stuck in the traffic and he couldn’t get home fast enough to greet an ambassador, and since her mother was out of the country, Ariel decided to do this by herself. It was not an official meeting, they invited the ambassador for dinner but they had a really intense talk about politics until her father came home.
None of her parents wanted her to get involved in this domain, even though they both came from families with such history. They wanted their daughter to stay away from the dirt in the politics but they decided to support her decision to become a diplomat. She started to help the secretaries with whatever she could, always being by her father’s side and sometimes even speaking in front of important people. She slowly climbed the ladder, studying international relations at college and following her father’s steps. She left the White House to visit the ambassador of Indonesia when the plan crashed. Right before she left her home, she had a major argument with her father, who told her not to leave and postpone the meeting, but she refused and stormed out of the house.
She is a really good listener and always knows when and what to say, never speaking in a wrong time or with a bad choice of words when it comes to official business. She is sociable and she does everything with grace. Not the adventurous type. Ariel takes risks often but never in a live or die situation. She tries to stay as focused as she can but the thought of never going back home terrifies her. She isn’t exactly the athletic type, she used to go to gym and even took some kick-boxing classes but never liked mountain hiking or any other activity that needs to be done in nature, like camping.
She lived in luxury her entire life but she can manage to live without it in case it’s needed. That doesn’t mean she’s comfortable doing it, she just knows she needs to survive and luxury is impossible to gain here. She is clever, a fast-thinker that has brilliant ideas most of the time, unless her judgement is clouded by fear. If that is the case, she’ll unconsciously follow her instincts and we’ll see where this will lead.
As a matter of fact, none of Ariel’s relationships ended nice. Only one of them lasted longer and it was the only relationship she could never forget, even if she wanted to. She used to fall in love pretty quickly but the passion burned out as quick as it started. Ariel swore not to get too attached to someone after her longest relationship ended.
The plane crash caused her some injuries: several scratches all over her body and a really painful wound on her left ankle but she does her best to act as if it doesn’t hurt at all. She will do anything that’s needed to survive because she wants to go home and apologize to her father for not following his advice. Family means everything to her.
