Potions and Lotions

Enoch was a half orc from her mother’s side. She was a bit muscular, but lean for an orc. She had long black hair with shaved sides. The long portion was pulled back in a ponytail. She dressed fairly nondescript, like a typical commoner in Xhorhas. Her tusks were perfectly maintained as she was proud of her heritage.

That morning, Enoch was opening her shop, Potions and Lotions. She was sweeping out the front currently. The shop itself was small, but whimsical. The bottles were all different colored with a few enchanted bottles hanging from the ceiling for light.

   BROWS downturned, eyes narrowed, arms CROSSED -- she was FILLED with worry, that was enough to be said; but Caleb had gone into a dangerous path -- wanting to jump BACK into the fray of the LAUGHING HAND and OBANN ?? She was GLAD she picked the lock, glad she noticed his withdrawal from the team, but hearing his cold voice sent a pit spiraling down her gullet. ( She remembers of not-so old times, of Molly and red blood and rambling plans of running away from FAMILY, from friends -- and boots STORMING off upon confrontation ). She digs nails into BARE arms, eyes merely staring.

   “Caleb,” she begins, stepping forward, “you know you need the time to process this -- you can’t handle them alone, that’s STUPID -- especially the LAUGHING HAND !! We couldn’t even take it down when we first encountered it,” Once grating voice is STERN, steady, like a rock sinking into river depths -- it is the TRUTH, and Caleb knows it, “You need to calm down. We’re GOING to find Yasha, we’re GOING to make them pay -- and of COURSE I will help you -- but you can’t expect us to let YOU jump in alone RIGHT NOW -- or even -- altogether, without being PREPARED.”

Disaster Student - Closed Starter

Vax couldn't believe that he was stuck in the school, without his bike or any other means of escape. Vex had stolen the keys at lunch, and left him stranded until after the mandatory study session the principal had given him. He sighed and wished he was somewhere else - anywhere else.

He looked around the library and his eyes narrowed once the doors opened. Fuck.

The student that entered was the stereotypical goody two-shoes - the kind of student that always looked down their noses at him.

"Look, just say that you came and I didn't show up," Vax told him, pinching the bridge of his nose. "It'll save us both the trouble. You can get your extra credit, and I can start walking home."

The instant he no longer had control of Thunderwave, Balnorin thought to himself, ‘Hm, hopefully that’s no too much...’

The human had certainly seemed confident enough, a common trait among his kind, so he had thought little of it aside from the assumption that he could back it up.  It had started simply, a bit of back and forth, a little goading.  It wasn’t until he smelt the slight, yet pungent odor of singed hair that it hit him, Oh, I’m angry. And here they were, one crumpled wizard and one rather flummoxed bard.  “...Shit.”  He rushes over and drops to his knees at the wizard’s side, hoping that he didn’t inadvertently commit murder.  Thankfully, the human wakes with a start, grabbing his wrist. “Yes, well...” his tone is just as flat, expression one of total indifference.  Fine, see if I make sure you’re not dead again.  “One can only hope you thew this on purpose and are not actually this soft.”

“Here to keep me company, Mr. Caleb?”  The party had stopped for a short break in their travels, finding a clear stream to allow their horse to drink and for them to attempt to find any bit of shade to keep cool. Molly, deciding to allow his skin to have some air, was sitting under a tree, shirtless and shuffling his cards when the wizard approached.

Second watch with Caleb again. It’s mercifully quiet, the fields vast and cold and empty. The moons hang overhead and light everything up silver. It’s flat for miles. If anything sneaks up on them, they’ll see it coming, and nothing’s tried so far. Peaceful, except for how Beau is about to lose her fucking mind.

“You think we’re still gonna be heroes when we get back to Rosahna? Or is this another government that we pissed off?” She tosses her staff in the air and catches it again, just to give her hands something to do. “ ‘Cause I’m not feeling great about our chances. Unless you have another miracle you can pull out of the haversack.”

They couldn’t even manage to make it out of their boots, fumbling for something sturdy to hold onto as they slumped ever closer to unconsciousness. He still wasn’t sure of it.  This whole unlikely crusade lead by even more unlikely souls, seemingly hellbent on leaving the world better than they found it...  The majority of his being still clung fiercely to the old adage: ‘You made your bed, now you must lie in it.’  If the masses wanted to follow their chosen side like sheep, so be it.

But...

There’s a huff of relief as he finds a surface which is passably soft, soon followed by a warm weight pressing at his side.  He blindly reaches, finding the wizard’s coat and pulling him closer with a tired, needy sound.“You’re quite warm, Master Widogast...”
