do you think elena will go back to being the same elena she was before she turned her humanity off?
I don't think she will ever be the exact same person, because people never go back to who they once more. People are constantly evolving, changing and growing (and sometimes regressing) from their experiences. Losing Jeremy, turning it off, hurting her friends and turning it all back on and later beginning to accept her humanity changed Elena. I think it forced her to see the absolute worst things she was capable of, made her see the extreme price of shoving her own needs down and pretending she was okay, made her see exactly what being a vampire with it's switch flipped was like. I don't think Elena will be shoving down her own emotional needs, or making herself pretend to be okay to the same extent now as she did before. I don't think we'll see as much self-denial as there was before. I think we'll see her be a bit more honest in how she feels and not to shove down her anger like she did before. I also think we'll see an Elena focused on her own needs just a slight bit more than she did before. Because if Elena in 4x22 was remarkably similar to she was when she turned it off, because she's been herself the entire time and because what she needs is time to heal and put herself back together.
