So I thought that Frosta’s castle was still called Castle Chill in the reboot but apparently it isn't. It's called Castle Evernight according to Adora's Rebel Princess Guide book.
Yeah the books are kind of… deuterocanonical. Most of the stuff will be in line with established canon but sometimes they’ll throw a curveball like “castle evernight” or “they’re sisters :)” that are just like. Individual authors’ opinions or blind spots? Like they’re trying to worldbuild but tragically bricks have been laid there for 30+ years, they just didn’t see them.
Here’s what I think happened. Tracey West, the author of the Rebel Guide, has written hundreds of children’s books, including oodles of cartoon adaptations—establishing both that she likes cartoons and that she isn’t like, a MOTU archivist who would know minutiae off the top of her head.
Whether through deliberate homage or a simple mix-up… I think it may be a reference to Evernight Castle from RWBY.
Like alright. I can see some resemblance there. This location was introduced in 2016 so it’s not like it’s anachronistic. And it wouldn’t be out of character for her to have watched it.
But that’s just a theory. I may reach out to her, but I feel like she’s gonna be harder to get ahold of than gbagok & less likely to have/remember the answer.
Frosta’s home has a couple different names anyway—Castle Chill, Castle Snow, the Ice Palace—it just depends which canon (deutero- or otherwise) you pull from. Castle Chill is from the Filmation show, so it’s most widely accepted & known, and it’s what I’ll be sticking with.
