What happened the day before?

Chapter 1: Manticore's first flight

"I still don't quite get it" Manticore said to Ethan, her companion, gaining a few weird looks from passersby, unaware of their presence

"What's not to get? Amiya said it, we keep Doctor under surveillance, write a daily report, upload it to Castle-3's system and make sure they don't get in trouble" Ethan turned sideways and after glancing at the corner of the hallway he signaled to Manticore to look at the same place.

Midnight and Noir corne were walking clearly excited in their stride carrying luggage in their hands and wearing summer variations of their usual outfits.

Noir was still wearing his uniform's Jacket but underneath he had an Alive until sunset t-shirt, blue shorts, sneakers and instead of his characteristic mask he was striking a pair of sunglasses and a dark facemask

Midnight on his side was wearing his same pants and boots but his shirt apart from being of short sleeves and unbuttoned up to his belly button it was a lighter shade of pink

"I tell you humble warrior, this city is greater than any you've been before" the vampire chirped

"Allow me to doubt your words" Noir smirked (visibly somehow)

"Oh! Doubt my words, feel doubt from them as if I were a jester!" Midnight made a flourish "That way the city of vices will be able temp you even more" he said dramatically putting emphasis on the word 'vices'

"What's so good with this city anyways? Every city has a casino"

"But not every city relies on them. Lungmenite casinos are made to keep those of lesser will inside" Midnight will never admit that 'those of lesser will' includes himself "But Neofreminite casinos are different, the city economy relies on them and as such every job is related to them, either by direct correlation like hotels and restaurants or via The Houses"

"Houses? Are people building houses inside casinos?"

"No, no, no. When I say 'Houses' I am not referring to households but to the gangs controlling the city. But, do not be afraid, gangs only want the bills in our wallets. And I have many"

"Columbia is very far away from the far east, but you talk as if you've been there quite a lot"

"Because I have, back in my days of glor-" Midnight stops at the sound of clattering behind them "Noo! My lipstick!!!" He screamed at the sight of his open luggage spilling its contents onto the ground

Ethan giggled while walking away from the scene

"I think you shouldn't have done that" Manticore said, unconfidently as ever

"It's just a prank, nothing to worry about" He gave a dismissal "We have to be first anyways. We don't want to lose Manticore's first flight ~"

Manticore just whimpered a little as response and whispered "It's not even that far from here"

The pair walked up the hallway and arrived at the landship's airport granting Manticore to freeze in place "Manti" Ethan sighed "I've been telling you" Ethan got a hold of her back and tried dragging her. A futile endeavor it proved to be "It's just!. A 3!. Hours!. Flight!"

Ethan grunted and pulled his YoYo out of his pocket. He tied Manticore's ankles together, grabbed her hands and with effort lifted her over the shoulders "Ethan! Drop me! Ethan!" She protested with screams that were surprisingly quiet despite the fear they carried. Which is for the best unless they wanted Shamare exorcising the airport

After minutes of struggling Ethan managed to get the whimpering and trembling Manticore in the "Iron bird" as Ethan and some of the other young operators have dubbed the flying vehicle. Dropping her to the floor and panting for breath

Manticore agitated her body like a drying fish trying to stand when the sound of wheels squeaking on the floor startled them

"Doctor, I find it amusing" Ranger that still wore his uniform said to the flowers collar and crown wearing hooded figure in casual attire "I never thought you would finally take your time off"

"I also feel that way"

"Sad, you've gained it"

"And so have you" The tactician stepped on the vehicle's ramp and stopped to analyze the insides of it

Rangers noticed this behavior "You...see something odd?"

Doctor walked forward "Nothing, actually" they went to put the luggage down the chair and noticed their jacket tugging at nothing, pulled it free and sat

"Doctor doesn't have to put their safety on question if I am here!" Castle-3 arrived with an energetic demeanor "Miss Closure has outfitted Castle-3 with a sonar upgrade. With this, no threat, visible or not will be able to approach you up to a 500 hundred meters! You, Doctor, are in safe non-literal hands!"

"Thanks Castle but I don't doubt of my safety when Rangers is around"

The Savra chuckled "You flatter me Doctor" and he sat besides the tactician

"Castle are those 2 coming?"

"They are ri-"

"Those 2? Doctor I expected you to regard me as something the likes of: "The prince of the night, God's g-" Midnight that had appeared with a sweaty forehead got interrupted by Noir corne's loud 'Hey!'

"Noir! You surprise me, I expected you to come in your armor"

Noir corne tensed at Rangers words "Y-Yato told me not to. It's a vacation and How could you relax inside those plates?" Noir gave a nervous chuckle

"You certainly could" Midnight said while putting his luggage under the chair

Noir just gave a sound of affirmation when he sat down, holding onto his long travel bag

After they were all accommodated in their seats Dylan's head peeked in from the pilot's cabin "You all?" The answer came quick with everyone nodding "Taking flight!" After those words the ramp closed and they started ascending

"Omnyujgt" an incomprehensible whisper catched Rangers attention when they started moving forward

"Must be the engine" Doctor said, sounding very sure, so Rangers simply shrugged

The view outside the Iron bird was like every other in Terra: Barren lands, the trail of the cities. Until bright lights came into view

The lights originated from a tall pointy building, made specifically to be seen from afar, white painting, top quality noticeable even from afar

New Fremont was under their gaze, calling them, tempting them.
