Comparing the original PS1 dub of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night with the new dub from Castlevania Requiem feels like comparing a passionate yet slightly off stageplay to a professional but monotone film adaptation. Like, yeah, the modern version is probably more accurate, but I feel like it lacks the same bravado that the original one has.
So the funniest thing ever just happened.
I was playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, (the PS4 port of the PSP edition). There's a two-stage final fight. The first part is against the Dark Priest Shaft, and then after him is the true Dracula fight.
For some heckin reason, the game skipped the fight with Shaft as soon as it started! It took me straight to Dracula!!
I was super confused, and I don't know how to explain how it happened but it did.... and I didn't mind it a single bit. That just meant I was still totally ready to beat down Drac!
Call it
divine intervention.
And the final fight also happened on midnight hour so that kinda made it even more epic for me.

Maria Renard is an inherently funny character because she’s a bratty little girly girl who is objectively more powerful than Richter, at least in terms of game mechanics because she has so many more movement options than him, and her design fits her personality:
She is inadvertently even funnier in the PSP remake of Rondo of Blood, because it Ayami Kojima’s designs as opposed to the original standard 90′s anime look. So Maria is still the same bratty little girly girl, but she now looks like this:
Konami has announced Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood “exclusively” for PlayStation 4. It will launch via the PlayStation Store on October 26. Pre-orders will open today.
Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood includes both Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Both games are the original titles emulated for PlayStation 4, with several updates including 4K / 1080p resolution upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, different rendering options such as smoothing, and full Trophy support. It also utilizes the DualShock 4 controller’s vibration, analog sticks, and speaker, with the latter playing a chime when you pick up an item.
