Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold expansion extended teaser trailer and latest details, Switch 2 version launches August 4 - Gematsu

Square Enix released a five-minute extended teaser trailer and new details for Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, the patch 8.0 expansion for Final Fantasy XIV due out in January 2027, as well as announced that the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy XIV will launch on August 4.

Pre-orders for the Switch 2 version are available now. As previously announced, the Switch 2 version will require a separate monthly subscription from the other versions, but will not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Users already subscribed on other platforms can receive a 50 percent discount on the Switch 2 version’s subscription fee..

Square Enix also released a new teaser trailer for the Evangelion crossover raid series, “Ghosts of Desire,” and announced a Final Fantasy VII Remake project crossover event, “Beyond the Lifestream.”

Here are the details:

Final Fantasy XIV is available now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. Square Enix said that the new expansion will continue to support PlayStation 4, but that it will soon near its capacity to physically contain Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation 4, estimating that PlayStation 4 support will end after Patch 8.3—which should arrive in about two years.

God of War Laufey launches February 16, 2027 - Gematsu

God of War Laufey will launch for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027, publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Santa Monica Studio announced.

Experience the next chapter of the legendary God of War franchise—for both new and returning fans alike.

Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey (Faye), warrior and wife to Kratos, a new adventure is just beginning. During the God of War Laufey panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Santa Monica Studio head of creative Cory Barlog also announced that the next Kratos-led God of War game is due out after God of War Laufey, and will connect directly to her story. (Thanks, IGN.)

Stray Children ‘Treasure Box’ physical edition launches December 10 in Japan - Gematsu

Onion Games will release a “Treasure Box” physical edition for RPG Stray Children for Switch on December 10 in Japan, the company announced. Pre-orders are available now at retailers like Amazon (with bonus, without bonus) for 9,980 yen (10,978 yen with tax).

The “Treasure Box” edition will include the following “treasures”:

A copy of Stray Children for Switch

“Stray Book” art book (160 pages)

“Crescent Moon” music experience CD and booklet

“The Eve of World Collapse” cloth antique map (A3-size)

“Friends” acrylic key chain

Warhorse Studios trademarks Kingdom Come Salvation - Gematsu

Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II developer Warhorse Studios filed a trademark for “Kingdom Come Salvation” in Europe on July 23.

Warhorse Studios previously announced that “a new Kingdom Come adventure” is in development alongside an open-world RPG set in Middle-earth.

MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls opening movie, DLC character Phoenix Cyclops announced - Gematsu

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Arc System Works have released the opening four-versus-four tag fighting game MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, as well as announced that Phoenix Cyclops will be the game’s first Year 1 downloadable content character.

“Blending the intensity of classic fighting game intros with the style, heart, and energy of iconic early-2000s anime openings, this cinematic opening sets the stage for the battles ahead,” reads the opening movie description.

The opening movie is produced by Japanese animation studio Sanzigen and directed by Daisuke Suzuki. The original theme song, “Stronger as One,” features vocalists Keiko Terada (SHOW-YA) and mayu (NEMOPHILA), with lyrics by Kanata Okajima, and music composed and arranged by MEG (MEGMETAL).

Phoenix Cyclops, voiced by Ray Chase in English, will launch this fall.

“Cyclops is one of Marvel’s most iconic X-Men leaders,” Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka said. “In MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls, however, this version of Cyclops draws inspiration from his Phoenix Five incarnation from Avengers vs. X-Men, sporting a bold new look infused with the fiery cosmic power of the Phoenix Force. In addition to powerful Optic Blasts and exceptional hand-to-hand combat abilities that define the character, this Cyclops also possesses the Phoenix Force, so expect Scott Summers to bring the heat! We’ll have more to share about how these abilities are incorporated into his gameplay, so please stay tuned for future updates on his fighting style.”

As announced earlier, MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls will also feature a collaboration with Insomniac Games‘ Marvel’s Wolverine in the form of an in-game costume.

MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls is due out for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on August 6. An open beta test will run from July 24 to 26.
