Male respondent in one of Carol Brooks Gardner interviews about street harassment: "It's funny, but just these kinds of happenings, of occurences, have been a sore point of discussion between my lady and myself. Not a week goes by we don't argue about them. Last week we were walking to the Vogue (a music venue in a Yuppie area of Broad Ripple) to hear some music, and a crowd of teenagers, both Blacks and whites, (...) was lounging near the entrance. They started whistling and shouted at her - you know, 'Hey babe, c'mere, give us what you got!' and all that. It got raunchy, obscene, but so what? Nobody hurt her or anything - O.K., one boy threw M&Ms at her, they hit her. We stayed up all night arguing about that."
Interviewer: "What do you think she should have done?"
Male Respondent: "Just forget it. It was over. Nothing happened. I'm sure they were rude, yes, but they meant no her no harm."
Carol Brooks Gardner (1995): Passing by. Gender and public harassment. California. p. 190
"Nothing happened." "They meant no harm." Wow. Speechless. He probably saw himself in these little shits and did the same things when he was younger - if he stopped, that is.
Getting catcalled by creepy old men: unsettling and creepy, leaves me feeling gross.
Getting catcalled by creepy old women: deeply confusing until I realize she’s talking to my dog. Yes he does have beautiful eyes! 🐕
Heyyyy trick or treat! 🦇🦇
Heyyy!!! Happy Halloween!!! 🎃
I’m not sure what kind of treats I have to offer. I’m no artist, and I’m not slick enough to turn a fic around in short order. So here’s a Rohirric word I made for fun instead!
Stiþbroc (or stithbroc if we’re using modern English letters): Literally, it means “firm ass” and the women of the Mark use it to refer to the guys who have the best butts.
Théodred finds it slightly mortifying to hear himself called a stiþbroc. Éomer pretends that he does, too, but secretly he loves it. Elfhelm — who in his 60s is still doing quite well for himself, he hasn’t been in a saddle for half a century not to have a great ass — absolutely LIVES for it and will give a little shimmy or bend over unnecessarily just to give the ladies a show whenever he hears it.
Hope you enjoyed! It’s always a pleasure, and I hope you have a great holiday!!! ♥️

What’s it called when someone politely “cat calls” you? Some guy just told me that I have “beautiful hair” as I walked past. I guess it’s probably just defined as a compliment, but I don’t even know him.
Update: My mom says he was hitting on me 😭
Chat, is it always that when a guy compliments you in public?
Because this kinda happened also this past month but more to my face instead of calling over and I was like “ahh such nice guys appreciating aesthetics platonically, as one does” Cause everyone has just been polite/friendly who talked to me.
Not even once in my life have I been catcalled btw. THATS how chopped I am.
