This isn't super common in the USA (at least not the parts I've seen), but in a lot of countries cats live in places where they need ways to get up and down multi-storey buildings and whatnot. So their humans build ladders for them. Which end up sometimes being these awesome systems of ramps and walkways and steppy-things.
