Playing catch up
Residency is a weird feeling of accomplished mixed with always feeling that you are behind.
My several months of intense depression really set me back. I am doing great with my patients and clients, but for a long time taking care of them was all I was capable of. I shut down completely on the weekends and accomplished nothing.
So now I have some massive deadlines looming - my research project survey will be launching on September 1st, I am starting to write my first case report, and I am taking a learning theory course that is costing me a fortune. I am also scheduling my out-rotations with other services and have a trip to Ohio next month for my equine experience.
But I got so behind that my massive accomplishments in the past week have been getting completely caught up on my case log and resident rounds through December 2017. While that is exciting, it means I have 12 hours of resident rounds to go (with 2 hours per month still accruing) and 8 months of case log. The case log is super tedious because I have to write the date of every email and phone call communication I have with the client.
So there is a lot to do, but even with a migraine lingering today I still got a lot done. I have to focus on what I have accomplished, and not on what still remains.
Keep an eye out, I’ll need all of you cat owners to contribute to my survey when it comes out!
