I chose to believe Hornet spend a good chunk of her childhood in the Hive (since learning to fight takes quite awhile), and vitally shared sleeping quarters the entire time. She was used to falling asleep and waking up Surrounded. It took a bit of getting used to, but she found she quite liked it. When she moved to the White Palace after her training was completed, she had trouble sleeping for ages afterward because of Missing Her Fuzzy Sleeping Companions.

The unexpected result of this is she is now completely unable to share sleeping quarters and NOT snuggle whoever else is there. If she trusts them enough to sleep beside them, they will be snuggled. Lace is included in this. Lace is Incredibly Okay with being included in this. Hornet is Mortified.
