This morning when I walked out of my apartment there was a freight train rolling past
and standing in the open door of a box car were two freighthoppers, regular old American hobos, both in flannel and scarves with Braves caps, just riding. I threw them a double bull because of the cops further up the street that monitor the tracks, and they gave me a nod and a wave and ducked back away into the car. Most surreal and invigorating thing I've witnessed in a while.
