Eishi is Kagome’s older cousin and the youngest of the Hoshikawa siblings. At the end of his 1st year of high school, he has been living with Kagome at Kagome’s old home in Kokubunji.
Out of all of Kagome’s extended relatives, Eishi is the person she is the closest to. He was the first person in Kagome’s extended family to know about her time traveling adventures, and is the most understanding of her and her situation.

Kagome Higurashi is a famous baseball player in Japan’s Little League and Senior League. In both leagues, she was well-known for her talent as a catcher, pitcher, and shortstop. She would have been labeled the No.1 Catcher and Pitcher if she had been a male; a fact that she hates hearing and being reminded of.
History
Personality
Kagome is a kind and caring young woman with a vicious temper. She has a difficult time walking away from those who are in trouble and has an intense hatred of discrimination, which stems from the discrimination against women in baseball and the times she was bullied as a child. She is extremely close with her family and her old teammates. She is willing to do almost anything if it means making her friends and family happy and keeping them safe. However, her little brother is the only person Kagome is willing to sacrifice her dreams and herself for, believing that if it is between herself and Souta, Souta should be the one to enjoy and live his life as he chooses.
Kagome has an immensely large circle of friends that come from all walks of life. She doesn’t judge them, their past, their occupation, or anything. She understands that everyone has their own moral code, and that hers and others won’t always have the same or similar opinion.
Her older relatives and all of her closest friends call her “K-chan”. Her other friends and acquaintances call her Kagome, Higurashi, or Hoshikawa. She has been known to give nicknames to the people she is closest to such as “Meijin” [Mei Narumiya], “Hacchan” [Harumi Tsukishima], “Akicchi” [Akira Shiota], “Ei-chan” [Eishi Hoshikawa], “Hiyan” [Hikaru Awashima] and “Zumi-chan” [Izumi Kinomoto].
Kagome absolutely hates the fact that upon entering high school she basically has to give up ever playing baseball on the field ever again. She despises the Japan High School Baseball Federation for allowing female players on the bench but forbids them from playing on the diamond.
She has an absolute hatred of softball because even though it’ claimed to be the equivalent of baseball, it is not. It was a sport created by men because they couldn’t handle losing to women. A softball is twice as large as a baseball (the ones in Japan are smaller than the ones in the US), the diamond is made smaller by 30 ft on all sides (60 ft rather than 90 ft), and the pitching distance is shortened by 20 ft (40 ft instead of 60 ft.) In softball, players are not allowed to steal bases unless the pitcher has already thrown the pitch and pitchers are only allowed to pitch by underhand. While in baseball, players are allowed to steal as long as the ball is still live and pitchers can pitch however they like.

Batting
Because she has less muscles than her male teammates (less muscles =/= less power or strength), Kagome concentrated her batting practice on increasing her bat-to-ball contact rate by using a wooden bat. She would only switch to using a metal bat the day before an official game and on the day of the game.
During her practices she would also often use balance batting and multiple balls to increase her kinetic vision and batting abilities. An increased kinetic vision would allow her to react and differentiate pitches faster, and balance batting would allow her to bat in more difficult positions.
Due to this, she has the highest contact rate and batting average of her year. She is also particularly good at hitting breaking balls and in clutch situations.
In Little League and Senior League, Kagome was often known to be a national level slugger with a number of home runs and grand slam/sayonara home runs to her name.

Defense
Either as a catcher or a pitcher, Kagome’s defense was top class. Being on a co-gender team, her skills even topped her male teammates, allowing her to steal the starting position from them.
As a catcher, Kagome’s defending and game leading skills is on par with Yuu Chris Takigawa’s and Kazuya Miyuki’s. However, because she is smaller than both boys, she has a harder time blocking runners when they run for home base. But she makes up for this weakness with her fast reaction time by dodging the base runner’s tackle or outright tagging them before they can reach base. Because of her strong arm and shoulder, she was highly proficient in retiring base runners. While catching, Kagome has been declared reckless as she goes all out to get an out, unafraid of getting injured in the process.
As a pitcher, Kagome has better fielding than any pitcher in her year even besting her best friend and former battery mate, Mei Narumiya. Because of her life and background, she is highly aware of her surroundings and is quick in processing information and making the necessary decisions for each situation. Her slide step/quick and pick-offs are efficient enough that base runners are unable to steal bases while she is on the mound, and generally afraid to do so.

Pitching
Kagome is a left-handed, overhand pitcher as well as a left-handed, sidearm pitcher. With her overhand form, the batter is unable to see the ball’s release point, and with her sidearm form, her pitches break with a steeper/deeper angle. She uses her two styles to keep the opposing team on their toes and guessing what type of pitch she would throw. Her two forms also make it more difficult for the opposing team’s batter to get used to her pitching. In both forms, her pitches also have little to no deceleration.
With her fast tempo pitching and vast repertoire of pitches, Kagome easily disrupts the batter’s rhythm and prevents them from regaining their own tempo. Like Mei, she easily strikes out batters and often instills despair in the opposing team. Because she often nagged her pitchers about it, pacing and her stamina are among her greatest strengths as a pitcher. When she first started playing as a catcher, she would train herself hard to gain everything a pitcher would need (stamina, control, pacing, speed) so that her pitchers could not call her a hypocrite or challenge her word.
In junior high, Kagome and Mei were tied for Kanto’s No.1 pitcher; Mei had the faster pitch while Kagome skillfully utilized a greater variety of pitches.

Kousuke is Harumi Tsukishima’s younger fraternal twin brother and a close friend of Kagome’s. Unlike his sister, he is not aware of Kagome’s adventures to the past.
He has a cold and apathetic attitude towards anything outside of his realm of interest, and his personality has been mentioned more than once by friends to be of a twisted nature. He is blunt, straightforward, and more than willing to rile up his friends, family, and teammates with his words. He enjoys teasing people especially his sister, Harumi, and her friends because of their hot-blooded nature. He is very bad at comforting others, but he is able to get a person out of a slump by riling them up.
Towards strangers around his age, Kousuke has a sharp tongue and his words are loaded with sarcasm. He has little care about keeping his tongue in check, but he is not as severe towards his friends and family.
Kousuke is also a high intelligent individual and uses his cleverness in all parts of his life. When he graduated from Seika Academy, he was the valedictorian of his year. He has a low tolerance for idiots and people who can’t use their brains to think for themselves. His also has little patience for slow-minded people, and for that reason, he finds it difficult to teach and is unwilling to tutor anyone who can’t learn fast.
In regards to his sport and sports in general, he believes age does not matter and that an athlete should speak with their skill rather than their superior age.

Harumi is one of Kagome’s three best friends and the catcher in her and Kagome’s battery from when she still played baseball. She is one of the people outside of the Higurashi-Hoshikawa family that is aware of Kagome’s adventures in the past. She is also the older fraternal twin sister of Kousuke Tsukishima.
Harumi is an upbeat young woman with a love for tricks and surprises. Despite her cheerful disposition, she is awfully shy with strangers, but easily fools people with her acting skills. She is an excitable person with a deep caring side. She is most often worried about her three best friends because of the other types of people they associate with and their own personalities. She often worries that Mei, Akira, and Kagome would get in over their heads by biting off more than they could chew or for getting on the bad side of the wrong people.
She and Kagome have been friends since Kagome moved to Setagaya. The two of them first met when they had been enrolled in the same gymnastics class. They grew even closer when Kagome invited Harumi to join the Shiraishi Little League and proved to her that girls were just as tough as the guys. They are extremely close. Whenever they are in distress, Kagome and Harumi would often seek each other out for emotional support if they could not speak of the issue with their family.
Harumi has also been in love with Mei since the 4th grade, but has never worked up the confidence to confess to him. The pitcher’s legions of fans do nothing but hamper her confidence. Harumi is unaware that Mei has mutual feelings for her.
