Florida residents living in vulnerable coastal areas were ordered to pack up and leave as Hurricane Idalia gained steam in the warm waters o
Last time a tropical storm turned into category 5 in the 11th hours was Katrina in 2005.
Katrina went down to category 3 after landfall but the catastrophe was due to levee break.
If idalia is looking like category 4, there’s a chance idalia might turn category 5 if the sea remains warm and the idalia just glides thru florida handle to reenergize up the coast. this could be very bad.
Hurricane Ian -- now a stronger and "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm -- has begun lashing Florida with major flooding and ruinous wind

Things to know about Dorian and Hurricanes (Helping for Emergency Preparation):
Currently, the Hurricane would be a CATEGORY 4, making landfall on Florida on September 4th. It wont just hit Florida. Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama will be hit with these winds. Up to 10 inches of rain are expected currently. Flash floods are very likely. Please stay in tune with your weather channel about the storm for more later news. source
Category 4 hurricanes have maximum sustained winds of 130 to 156 mph. Gusts can be 30% higher or more than the sustained winds. Mobile homes, buildings without fixed structures, and sheds can be completely destroyed. source
Reminder that there is also flying debris, trees, and power lines.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE CATEGORY 1 HURRICANES. Category 1 winds can reach up to 74 to 95 mph, causing damages to power lines and well-constructed homes. Power outages can last for days or even a week. See the picture below:

When I said I missed Florida... I didn't mean this 🤦🏻♀️
Uhh anyone have any hurricane tips?
I'm honesty horrified right now
My anxiety is through the roof and I have no idea what to do. I have literally just spent the last 30 minutes begging my parents to take this hurricane threat seriously until I was in tears. They don't have any plan in set in the slightest. They don't have food, they don't have water, they don't know if we're going, when we're going, where we're going. I don't have a license, I don't have a car. I can't do anything but hope they come to their senses. We are already under a declared State Of Emergency and Hurricane Irma is now at Category four strength. They are two of the most ignorant people I have ever met and I can't believe someone could just watch their kid crying and begging because they scared. She didn't even try and listen. She just kept denying me and then just stopped replying to me all together. How can you sit there and ignore someone like that?
I don't know what to do right now. I don't even know what to think. I'm scared. I'm honestly just really fucking scared.
