are you planning on writing more for catharsis! i thought it was really cool and would love to know more. and if you are open to questions: which of luan or 1's captivity arcs were worse in terms of abuse/torture?

yes i'm absolutely going to continue it! but k&j is my highest priority rn.

luan suffered what would be considered much more severe torment, but 1 had no breaks (would be shut off at the end of one session and wake up at the beginning of the next, days later), so you decide.

loooove the true crime aspect of catharsis :)

thinking about how there are probably pictures of luan from right after he was freed. and interviews or court footage from early into his recovery. pictures of the basement he was kept in. maybe even body cam footage if he was rescued??? maybe even pictures and videos that cyrus took of him being tortured???

(i dont condone the true crime community irl but i fucking love known whumpees. theres so much potential.)

i looooove known whumpees so much. every time a whumpee is rescued in a normal world (ie. not some dystopia where the whump is normalized) i want it to be a big public news spectacle

im fuckingg OBSESSED w catharsis I literally think I’ve reread the first update like ten times I just love 1 so much. Just. The idea of a whumpee who’s programmed to be defiant??? Like. You’re scared all the time and all you’ve ever known is pain but you still can’t stop sneering insults and threats you’ll never be able to act on. It’s been two years and you know what your anger will get you because it is programmed to be infuriating and to get you hurt, but you never drop the defiance because it’s hardwired into you and no matter how much you might dread its consequences you just can’t stop mocking the person who has spent your whole life hurting you. Yea.

So 1 was just programmed with a name and personality but none of the details of what real Cyrus did? Is this standard practice for most Catharsis robots or did Luan just not want 1 to be able to mock him about what happened?

Okay I have a few questions more questions and then I'm done.

How long was Luan and 1's respective captivities?

When did 1 pick out his name? (I also really want to know why he choose that, but it'll probably be more satisfying to learn while reading the future chapter, so you can just ignore that question)

Will Luan's recovery chapters be included in the arc as his captivity (like Jim's is)?

Does 1 ever get to meet other Catharsis bots after he's free?

What ends up being the worst pain 1 had ever felt? 👀 Because I am almost certain kicking him in the ribs wasn't the most painful thing Luan would end up doing.

how long: i really need to get a timeline spreadsheet done like i have for k&j so i can be consistent, still working on this! haven't decided yet. luan's gonna be 1-2 years.

1 picked out his name sometime during his captivity and that's all i can really say without getting spoilery. he chose it because he didn't want a human name (hates humans), wanted something from the language of machines, zeroes and ones. and obviously, he's no zero :)

luan's "recovery" will mainly occur during 1's captivity. he is not great at it.

i have another catharsis bot OC i've used in rps (1 actually started as an rp character before i gave him his own story), but i'm not sure if i want to use the other oc in this or if that would make things too complicated. his name is andy :) he's a real sweetheart

the worst physical pain 1 ever feels (as far as my current plans go, this could change) is when his pain sensors get damaged. they're built pretty sturdy, given his purpose, but it still happens. however, mental anguish from captivity is worse for him.

going to answer for 1 from catharsis :)

1 is a cis man--assigned male and identifies as such, though he has no genitalia--but he has a lot of complicated feelings about his gender. he absolutely resents being told what to do or who he is, and he knows that he only feels like a man because he was programmed to feel that way. he eventually experiments with identifying as nonbinary and using different pronouns, but it never feels right, so he stops. 1 never quite feels satisfied with any gender expression. he has no desire to possess genitalia, though.
