Catherine Tate wore this striking black dress with gold and purple embroidery as Donna Noble in the 𝑫𝒐𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒉𝒐 episode 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒂𝒔𝒑, which aired in 2008 as part of the reboot’s fourth season. But that’s not where it began its life! Long before it turned up at a 1920s garden party with the Doctor, the dress first appeared in the 2001 German docudrama 𝑫𝒊𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒔 – 𝑬𝒊𝒏 𝑱𝒂𝒉𝒓𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 (𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒔 – 𝑵𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒚), worn by Angelika Thomas as Julia “Lula” Löhr, sister to writers Thomas and Heinrich Mann.
