I never equated occultism with paganism. The abrahamic faiths are much more occult oriented than paganism, generally speaking. Yes, these are all just forms of worship (ritual), which was kind of my entire point. Thanks.

The whole "she's just jealous of me!" Thing reads a lot like "she became obsessed with me because she's a lesbian!" From mean girls.

One thing that really grinds my gears are people saying that trads only like the TLM because it’s ~fancy~ and ~pompous~ and makes them feel ~important and good about themselves~  because trads are all like “oooh our rite is so much prettier and reverent because ~ad orientem~” ....as though the music and the vestments and incense and Latin and gestures are just completely for show and have absolutely no meaning. It truly boggles my mind people make such a shallow assumption. It’s on par with someone going church hopping because they don’t like the music. Not going to a certain church because you just don’t like the music is a little shallow. But people don’t choose to go to the TLM just because it’s beautiful. The TLM isn’t beautiful because of the fancy vestments and gestures and incense, it’s beautiful because all of that stuff has an inherently rich symbolism that helps us deepen our faith. It’s not just bells and whistles for the sake of bells and whistles. There is meaning behind all of it. And I mean all of it. Just read the book Nothing Superfluous by James W. Jackson to find out how much meaning there is behind the smallest gestures. I just find it really uncharitable for people to assume trads just like the TLM because it’s more beautiful than the Novus Ordo. I mean, I’m sure there are trads who do actually think that. But that’s not the point of the TLM, and that’s not at the root of why some love it.

Anyway, since the RBG post reminded me, here are somethings I'd like to say to non-Catholics about my religion:

1. Stop making non-Catholic people into saints. Its disrespectful to the person themselves, as well the entire process to become saints. The process takes literal years to be decided, and the person has to have TWO LEGIT QUALIFYING MIRACLES accredited to them. Its not a joke to us. Catholics take this seriously.

2. Stop saying we worship saints or Mary. We do not. We simple hold them up as proper examples of how we should be as Catholics especially as many of them were martyred for their beliefs. When we pray to them, its not worship, we are asking them to intercede our prayer on our behalf to Jesus/God/Holy Spirt. We have a specific intention we want them to help us with. Its also why they are usually made patron saints of specific things.

3. Stop commercializing our icons and religious arts. These icons have specific meaning to us. There is a reason for their creation. They are tcothskes, they have actual spiritual meaning to us. Its also why certain items (like rosaries) have to blessed before being used.

4. Its completely fine to critique the institutions that exist within our Church. Frankly, most of us both former Catholics and still practicing Catholics (especially those of us from the younger generations) have been doing that way longer then most of you, and we aren't doing it for woke points- we are doing it because the Church has actually caused us or our loved ones actual hurt. But watch how you speak about us as people becase WE ARE NOT THE INSTITUTIONS AND because I guarantee most of have way more credentials and insight into the issues within our Church then you do. Meaning we are the actual victims of our religion, and therefore the best people to be critiquing it and working to fix it if that's what we desire.
