Making a joint appearance in my #Catober gallery today are the mother-son team of Peekaboo and Hissy. Somehow I managed to photograph them while both were resting on the back steps of my house back in the fall of 2004. I used several brands of pens for this portrait including two Koi Coloring Brush pens and a Pigma Micron 05 pen. Also used a couple of Winston & Newton pan watercolors for a little color. On a personal note, I am amazed that this month is almost over already and that my #Catober challenge is literally drawing to an end. Makes me a little sad because part of me doesn’t want this project to end. While today (Oct. 29) marks the “official” celebration of National Cat Day I have been celebrating the wonder and beauty of cats throughout the month with my cat drawings as my #Inktober drawing challenge. By now all who have followed my #Catober sketches know that every day is a national cat holiday in my heart and happily, the past five years, in my house thanks to the presence of Ruby and Rufus. I just had to follow the sketch of Rufus with repeat appearances of his siblings Russell and Ruby, just because. During his brief time with us Russell was always into everything, climbing onto tables, lounging in the sink, chasing his brother and sister, etc., that he’d knocked himself out and would drop and sleep any and everywhere. So here is another drawing of Himself in full sleep mode. I tried a little something different with Ruby this time, though she is quite the nap-expert as well. This was an effort in both sketches to focus on the very different colorings and patterns of the coats of these gorgeous creatures but both cats are way more beautiful in real life.
