Betty and François Catroux at their Paris apartment, 1970. This past week, nursing a cold in bed, I’ve had the perfect opportunity to catch up on something I love - previewing some upcoming landmark auctions. It was more than a little bittersweet, however, to see @sothebys notice for François et Betty Catroux : un écrin Méditerranéen - a collection of furnishings from the legendary designer’s home in Nice, which he shared with his wife, and muse to Yves Saint Laurent, Betty Catroux. François’ last interior project was his own Nice apartment, from where he planned to calmly wind-down by the sea, after spending decades decorating the homes of the super wealthy. ___________________________________________ Photo by Horst P.
