Grizabella Fun Facts I Learned Today
1. The OG Grizabella in 1981 was played as old, as was the OBC Griz, but the character changed a lot over time. In US productions in the 90s, Grizabella was consistently played around Munk’s age. It doesn’t appear that she was aged down in London until the revival.
2. Grizabella having a limp was Elaine Paige’s idea.
3. Trevor Nunn described the character to Betty Buckley as the “Marilyn Monroe” of cats, during her glamour cat days. As old Griz, Buckley based her performance off homeless people she met around New York, who were in bad shape but still carried themselves with dignity.
Can we PLEASE bring back Mistofelees singing Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, and just make it a little bit gay?
It could even be sung as a trio, I just... I really want to see Misto attempting to redeem Mungo and Teazer and every time he gets close, the twins let the tribe in on their sneaky little chaos heists.

I’ve wanted to draw this headcanon ever since I saw @zshoes amazing art analyzing Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer throughout the years (https://zshoes.tumblr.com/post/613794267031273473/thoughts-on-mungojerrie-and-rumpleteazer)! The 1982 broadway cast in particular featuring Mistoffelees singing the song in 3rd person instead!
I think Mistoffelees is INCREDIBLY attracted to shiny and sparkly things (as seen from his performance outfit, it’s literally sparkling!) As @zshoes wrote, Mistoffelees could be using Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer as a scapegoat, which I feel that he could do in order to satisfy his want for more jewels and diamonds without getting caught. Or he could strike up a deal with them instead! He’ll help out in their mischief with his magic, and in return they’ll have to bring back some shiny things to add to his collection 😉
It was fun drawing a more mischievous side to Mistoffelees, with him being one of the smartest cats in the junkyard, no doubt he’ll find a way to get what he wants!
