~ Looming Moo ~ Young Nguni bulls. Lidgetton, KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, South Africa. Charcoal, conté crayon and chalk pastel on 600mic (390gsm) grey DeHalm chipboard. Size: 102 x 77cm (40 x 30 inches). The Nguni cattle, pride of the Zulus, are a particularly fascinating breed, sturdy and hardy, each with unique markings that read like legends, likened to all manner of birds, eggs, insects, reptiles and flora with almost poetic consideration. This young bull happened upon me sitting in the middle of his pasture and found me too interesting an object to pass up on – brought his mates along too. "LOOMING MOO" IS UP FOR ADOPTION!
