Of all the descriptions the Cat King has given Edwin, a classic is not one of them. "I'm not quite sure what you mean."
"It's nothing bad to be, not in the slightest," the Cat King says, earnest. "You appreciate the way things are and the way they were, seeing the beauty in both sides. You probably got a bunch of first editions back home- Oscar Wilde, Allen Poe, all the best of the Lake Poets." He shifts forward on his knees to where Edwin sits, brings himself just an inch closer to the space between his legs. "Think Art Noveau, letters written by candlelight instead typed up in telegrams, dances in ballrooms instead of old clubs.”
The look in his eyes, the admiration, now Edwin sees where it’s familiar. The fascination, from that cursed first night- drawn out by Edwin doing nothing but being himself. “There’s just nothing like you anymore.”

My Other Fish Is a Cat
He wasn't jealous (at least, he was fairly confident that he wasn't), but Charles would always be his first love, and letting that go was… hard. He wanted to move on from those romantic feelings and allow them to settle back into platonic friendship, he wanted to be happy for the two of them without the dull ache in his heart.
He was lonely.
It was in moments like that, when his heart ached and he felt the dark tendrils of loneliness creeping into his chest, that he thought of a kindred spirit. Someone who understood. He thought of a small scar above a teasing smile, of drawn-out honesty and of warm golden eyes that danced with longing, like the flickering of an open flame, of someone whose heart sang the same song of sorrow and hope as his own.
The Cat King had been right, of course. Edwin missed him.
The Case of The Cat, The Sword and the Light Show
After Edwin is injured in a brush with some Ghost Poachers goes sideways, he decided that it was finally time to learn how to fight for himself properly.
But fisticuffs were never really his thing. No, Edwin liked swords.
