She understood more about Severus than most people could likely ever claim. No matter how long she might have been...sleeping...Lily refused to confront the dead part for the moment. It gave her the worst chills when she thought about it. He was in darkness now she could sense it. Could she help pull him out of it ? Lily wasn't entirely sure but she could always try. She had always managed to include him into things. She did not identify well with girls because she was so use to having male friends. Girls often seemed shallow and vain to Lily. Also her interactions with them often made it so it was clear. She laughed at things most girls would frown about. She was different but it had never matter not around Severus. Lily recalled the lake well they had taken a topple in the lake at one point when she had gone out on some rocks and he had tried to catch her, which had only ended in both of them in the lake. They were lucky that didn't develop mutant powers or something.
Sh gave an indignant toss of her head. "Your height is too something you could control. I am sure there was potion for that too." she poked him with a slender finger where he had been ticklish as a boy. The cloud of red hair settled back around her frame and she just gave him a small sad smile. It was like being a child again. It was always easier to get through things when they could laugh. "Well, thank you for towering over me, I do ever so appreciate it." she addressed him with mock pomp. "Alas, you may never see this robe against, Sev." Lily had died at twenty one she still had some girlish qualities. She didn't think it was a strangeness or odd to be calling dibs on anything where he was concerned. Again, it came out naturally. "That is horrid." she whispered and shook her head. She hugged his robes around her again to keep herself comforted.Of course her brave nature would no doubt kick in and she would get herself into trouble or danger when she got herself together completely. There had always been an air of fearlessness about Lily.
"I see just the right amount." she countered and shook her head at him. "Severus, you made choices they were not the right ones by me, and apparently not by you either." she nodded to him. "I am not going to lay blame at your feet. You did what you had to do. People forget the most important thing about War is not winning, its surviving." she wanted to use simple means to get out of this conversation. There were no leaf piles to drag him into, there was no way to chase him around the lake proclaiming to be a dragon or some great serpent. They were adults now and it made her tear up. None of their childish games could help. He was stiff beside her and she bit her lower lip. If the childish games would not help...her arms slide around him and she hugged him. "Please, do not expect my scorn or hatred I have none to offer." she whispered "I have nothing right now but what you see before you." she explained softly. "I don't want to blame you to hate you..I don't want to relive the mistakes of our past."
"I..I am not sure what I thought.." she admitted "I just seeing everyone older and not getting older in my ..sleep." she whispered. "I guess I was concerned you might not know me for me. That you might think it some foolish or horrific trick." came the answer her brows drawn in concern. A snort followed at his answer "Rubbish." she said "Just because it looks one way, I am an expert at knowing it was quiet soft." her pale hand appeared from the depth of the cloak around her in a dismissive wave. The bickering was familiar a comfort. It meant nothing but it also meant every thing they could so easily fall back into it.
"There is plenty of reason to not blame you." she said as she turned to look up at him. Again cursing his height compared to her own. " You were already loosing hope as a boy Severus." she scolded firmly. "You were not properly cared for you were not looked after properly in school either." she continued "Yes, your bad choices are your own fault, but not all of it is to be lain at your feet." she protested firmly. "you thought you were doing something big, something wondrous. How many people in our stories have been wooed to the darkness just because it offered certain things they were lacking, friendship protection." she pointed out simply. "Again I am not say you are blameless you aren't. No one is blameless not you, not I." she stated "If your going to blame yourself for your actions when you knew no names, you might as well blame me for marrying James and having Harry..are you going to blame me for that Severus ?" she demanded her voice raising a bit more than a hushed softness.
She still shook her head no again "If I am to blame you I may as well walk back out that door and pretend I had never seen you that I had never had this conversation with you." her words low again and unintentionally sad. "I forgave you. I had to otherwise it would ruin me, it would destroy the person that I was, that I am I would not be Lily anymore. I would be something less. Hate, anger, bitterness...all of these things subtract from us. " she touched his hand "If your so worried about wronging me. Here I sit, make it up to me ."
A hiss of surprise followed and the intake of her breath "Hell, they left Harry with Petunia and THAT." her words a low sound of distress. "That is terrible. Vernon despises anything magic, and you know how Petunia treated me." she fretted. "That is.." Lily rested her face in her hands to breath in. She could have used a drink at that point. She glanced back up at him. "I have to do something about that." she didn't know what. She hadn't two coins to rub together at the moment, no wand. She was dressed in her burial clothing and oh yes she was hungry too her stomach growled. If it wasn't one thing it was another. She guessed this was what the pressure of being alive was like. Lily paused in her self implosion at his answer to offer a small "I am proud of you." she was he had always been so wonderful at potions. Still her brain was going a mile a minute and Lily gave a tiny smile. "I knew you'd get a masters." she said "You were to good not to." she glanced to his arm. It was clear he was going to be involved again and she had to decide right than what she thought, she had to decide if she wanted to do this. Part of her thought she ought to run. That was the part that was beaten down by the war, that died. She nodded solemnly. "Evil never dies it can only be defeated through constant vigilance." she quoted. She touched her fingers to the place where the dark mark had to lurk. "Tell me how I can help, Sev."
