I've always had a really bad case of scatterbrain and seasonal depression at the start of the year. When February enters, I know for sure my mental health's gonna dip horribly and it'll last the good first quarter of the year.
This year hasn't been different, and I'm still trying to get out of it, but by setting extremely small goals both for work and private life to keep myself creative has really made things more manageable.
- 200 words of writing a day is small, but I've been pumping out writing every day, which is way more than no writing.
- Finishing just one step in a commission piece per day when I have several is small, it still stresses me out since time and money are sensitive, but it's better than stressing out because I've done nada.
- There's days showering slips my mind but I remember to brush my hair and teeth, and it's better than no self-care at all. Same goes for food: sure a full meal is better, but instant ramen is still preferable over a completely empty stomach.
29 years and figuring out how to deal with ADD + Anxiety + (Temporary) Depression, but we'll get there. It's okay if it takes a longer while, too.
