So, my first experience with Kpop was totally innocent. In fact I thought it was Japanese music. Why you ask? Because it was through the movie 3 Ninjas Kickback. The one where I thought Rocky was hot. Look, the plot mainly took place in Japan so I thought it was cool music from Japan. No, it was Chuli and Miae. A duo from Korea. Their music was so cool. See, I grew up in a very rural area in the South so there was no international culture to speak of and I was lucky to get to watch movies. We didn't have internet really back then either. It wasn't until I was much older and moved away that I discovered k-pop and all it had to offer. Then “re-discovered” the song that I had heard so many years before. To find out that it was k-pop and that I still liked it really made me happy. Finally, I found something to connect with. Even though I don't understand the language it still makes me happy. My love for k-pop shall continue as the songs can evoke so much emotion from me just as much as a song can in English. People surrounding me many not understand but I'm not asking them to understand. I like what I like just as they like what they like. So that is it. I discovered k-pop without really knowing it when I was in 4th or 5th grade but I “fell” for k-pop in 2015. No regrets. If you have questions, please ask. I don't bite and I love talking to people!
