I only realized when I got deep into writing this that I really don't write literal trans characters all that much at all (which makes some kind of sense because I have written nothing big since I started transitioning). I can only think of two I've ever done in my life, both in unfinished, unpublished stories. However, like...spiritually trans characters? Those I do a LOT of.
N4-73 is trans in the sense that when he was born, a role was imposed on him. But to fulfill the role would be to destroy himself. And then he eventually goes off on his own and finds a name that suits him better. Like jeeeeez I have written a trans character, but also I have not written a trans character.
Devon from Constant Bearing, Decreasing Range is also trans in my head, but not the text. Lotta dysmorphia going on for a cis man over there.
I really do need to write an actual trans character at some point.
