Colby Buzzell is a writer and new journalist, but before that he was a soldier. His book, "My War" is a candid account of a young soldier's experiences in the Army, and in combat.
His stories carry you from enlistment, to basic training, to being assigned to a unit, to pre-deployment training exercises, to deploying, to coming home, to getting out; narrating his thoughts and emotions along the way. His work following my war was heavily based upon trying to find meaning in civilian life, including getting recalled to active duty via the Inactive Ready Reserve (backdoor draft), and even into building a family, and reacquainting himself with his country and fellow countrymen in his book "Lost In America: A Dead End Journey".
Much respect to Colby and his work in storytelling.
