I like that little moment when oa told maggie he already told his family she was coming over 🥹 he was *adamant* that she was spending christmas with him. such a cute detail.

His family already loves her, and I bet they ship them together. He was adamant that she was not spending Christmas alone. He cares deeply about her.

“What are you laughing at?” OA asked as he propped himself up on an elbow. Early morning light brushed Maggie’s face, the glow of the screen reflecting in her eyes. She tilted the screen toward him. “Look at what they taught this dog to do.” OA glanced at the video, a border collie stacking cups, but he mostly watched her watch it. The way her nose scrunched when she laughed, how she bit her lip to stifle a giggle when the dog knocked the stack over. Maggie met his gaze. “Were you looking at me the whole time?” “Maybe.” He smirked and trailed a finger down her arm. She rolled her eyes but didn’t pull away. “I can’t be that interesting.” “More interesting than dogs on the internet, that’s for sure,” OA teased. Then, voice dropping, he added, “If I could only look at one thing for the rest of my life it would be you.” Maggie laughed, but it faded into something softer. “I don’t know what to say to that,” she admitted as she sat up. “You flatter me too much.” Without warning, she swung a leg over him, straddling his hips. OA’s breath stopped for a moment when she bent down and kissed his cheek, then his neck. “Go on,” she whispered against his skin. “Keep flattering me.”

OA’s hands found her back. “Uh…” his usual way with words evaporated at the sight of her on top of him. Maggie raised an eyebrow to match her amused smile. “Wow, speechless? You once lectured me for twenty minutes about trigger discipline. Is this what it takes to get you to shut up?” OA barked a laugh. “Oh my God I love you.” He froze, then clasped his hands over his face. “I am an idiot.” “Maybe,” she agreed as she pried his hands away. “But I don’t mind.” OA searched her face, saw her authentic smile and the way it crinkled around her eyes-- she wasn’t even surprised at his accidental confession. Something softened in her expression before she spoke. “I love you too, Omar.” “Oh, so it’s Omar now?” He teased, his heart hammered. “Excuse me if I don’t call you by your army nickname when I admit I’m in love with you!” In a rush of confidence after her reciprocation, OA moved before he thought, flipping her onto her back and pinning her wrists above her head in one smooth motion. “Say it again,” he demanded, his voice low and rough. Maggie arched a brow. “Make me.” OA kissed her hard, swallowing her gasp. When he pulled away her face was red and her chest was rising and falling fast. He was also already nearly panting. “Say it,” he repeated before nipping at her jaw. “I lov–” Maggie interrupted herself with a breathy groan as he kissed her collarbone. His kisses wandered lower. She gasped and tugged against his grip. “OA…” she warned, but he just grinned against her skin. “Don’t worry habibti,” he murmured as he released her wrists to slide a hand under her shirt. “I’ll make you say it again when–” Bzzt. Bzzt. Their phones vibrated in unison. OA let out a frustrated growl and dropped his head to her sternum. “We’re ignoring that.” Maggie sighed as she reached for her phone. “It’s Jubal.” OA groaned louder but rolled off her, grabbing his own phone. A case alert flashed across his lock screen. “Worst possible timing,” he muttered. “Later,” Maggie promised as she slid out of bed. OA started dressing himself but didn’t try to hide the way he watched when she pulled her t-shirt off. “You’re a dog, Zidan,” she laughed. “What can I say,” he shrugged. “Help me with this?” she asked as she slipped her arms through her bra straps, offering him one last chance to touch her. He delicately fastened the clasp. “Too tight?” “Just right.” His fingers lingered on her skin for a moment too long. They finished dressing in somewhat tense silence. When they were dressed, Maggie spoke. “I’m holding you to that ‘rest of your life’ thing by the way,” she said with a smile. OA answered her by pulling her by her waist into a tender kiss.
