A/N: It’s been so loooooonnnnngggg since I’ve shown some love to my babies but thanks to @liquidheartbeats2 & @cygnetofthesea for getting me to write again. This was supposed to be a 100 to 250 words but I don’t understand the concept of word count, lol. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy! And stay safe out there!

The sweet suckle aroma of syrup wafted into the air, followed by the more potent sticky scent of coffee beans. Barry was sprawled across the bed with the comforter tangled around his long legs. A beat or two passed before his nostrils wiggled of their own accord. The smell, sweet and savory, hit his nose tenfold.
Slowly opening his eyes, he did a deep stretch before moving an arm to the other side of the bed. Cold sheets greeted his skin, and he sat up without hesitation.
There wasn’t a morning that went by where they didn’t cuddle before their alarms expired respectfully. This morning would be no different. Lifting one thick eyebrow, Barry glanced around their bedroom in confusion. The only sign of Iris’s early rising was the absence of the robe that normally hung on the back of their bedroom door.
Rolling over, he checked his phone for any missed messages from her. But all of the messages were either from CCPD or Cisco. He placed the phone face down and crawled out of bed with the intent of finding her. She had to be somewhere in the loft.
Before his bare feet could pad around the side of the bed, their bedroom door opened, and Iris walked in holding a breakfast tray. The first thing Barry noticed was her hair. Spirals of brown tendrils framed her beautiful face. A giddy feeling inflated his stomach. He loved when she wore her curls.
The next was the tray in her hand. He spotted two plates piled high with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. His instinct instructed him to speed the tray to the nearest end table, but he knew she hated when he took matters into his own hands. So instead, a grin touched his lips, and adoration danced in the depths of his eyes.
“What’d you have there?” he asked, taking a step toward her.
“What’d I have here?” she repeated, a mysterious smile dancing on her pretty pink lips. “Just breakfast.”
His eyebrow kinked in surprise. Iris didn’t cook. She tried, he would give her credit for that, but her attempts were futile at best.
"Breakfast?" hesitation laced his voice.
"Mhm," she mumbled, walking to settle the tray on the bench at the end of their bed. "Don't worry,” she began, pushing a stray curl out of her face as she looked at him. “Rosie did all the cooking.” This time Barry didn't falter in moving to her. His stride long and quick.
God, she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. It was like the longer they were together, the more he fell in love with her. His heart thundered in his chest as he took her into his arms. She smelt of lavender. Burying his nose into the crook of her neck, he inhaled the scent of her skin. A giggle tickled his ears, but he didn't move. Gratitude overwhelmed him in one fell swoop. She'd gotten up and driven to Rosie’s Place to get breakfast. For them.
Barry pressed a soft kiss to the side of her throat before lifting his head and standing to his full height. His eyes softened as he gazed down at her.
“What’s the special occasion?”
“No special occasion,” she responded nonchalantly, tilting her head. “I just wanted to surprise you.”
The palms of his hands soothed the sides of her back in slow rotation. There was a familiarity between them. The kind romance writers attempted to capture in their novels.
His eyelids lowered masking the darkened green of his pupils as he took in every inch of her face. Barry knew spending eternity with her wouldn’t be long enough. Drawing her closer, he touched his nose to hers, and the shiver that raced over skin jumped onto his.
“Thank you,” he whispered, his lips a centimeter away from hers. “Think I can repay your hard work?”
The breathy sigh of her giggle made his knees weak.
“Yes,” she whispered, her body stretching up to flatten against his. “Kiss me, then.”
The food she’d sat down just a few moments ago was forgotten as he closed the distance between their lips.
