In "Keep The Change", Mona stays out of the food fight, both due to not knowing what the heck she's supposed to be doing and cause shyness hit her again. At one point she gets hit in the face with a tomato (thrown by Harrison, who quickly says "Sorry" before aiming for someone else) and wipes it off just in time to see Preston throw eggs but miss and hit Campbell's TV instead.
When Max says that people don't change, Nikki and Neil point out that it's hypocritical, and Nikki using Mona as a reference, much to her mortified surprise at the spotlight.
"And what about Mona? She was like, super-super shy back when camp began, but look at her now! (points in her direction) She's not quiet anymore AND doesn't disappear mid-way through any activities!"
Mona: (internally, mortified) She noticed??
Max says that she doesn't count, as he's talking about bad people and says that he hasn't changed and still hates the world and everyone hates him. Mona also (internally) agrees that's a lie, as she's picked up on his character development as well. And when everyone else are sewing, she hides under the table (so that she won't get scolded or yelled at) cause she kept messing up and then just gave up. (But when told she's going to be picking up trash with the others, she's immediately on board, wanting to help clean nature cause the litter bothers her)
When held at gun-point, she's just frozen still, afraid of making any movement whatsoever and keeps glancing at Preston and then the others out of fear. When it's revealed the gun's a fake she's relieved but her heart keeps racing anyway, until it ends up calming down half an hour later as she's in bed.
In "Attack of the Nurfs", I imagine she wouldn't copy anything at all herself while the others are going wild with it, would be confused to the point of her mind bluescreening when she sees all of the copies of Nurfs and when they try to bully her (approaching with a few insulting words) she just runs away. They attempt to catch her but she keeps outrunning them pretty quickly, at least until one of them cuts her path off and jumpscares her, causing her to stumble and fall. Then David shows up and she hides behind him with zero hesitation until Nurf starts insulting the other Nurfs. When everyone's doing a human lifeline, she, having no idea HOW she should help and not being good under pressure with thinking fast, just watches it play out while gripping a ladder as hard as she can to not get blown away.
(PS: She can't swim, so she wouldn't get in water, at all)
In "The Quarter-Moon Convergence", she gets bothered when Harrison gets bullied and even speaks up about it after gathering up courage. "Hey, that wasn't nice. He's trying, and words can hurt way more than you think." Harrison is surprised that she stood up for him and Max dismisses her with "What, you his friend now or something?"
When she freezes, worried that she's gonna get bullied now too, he adds "We're just saying it how it is. If you wanna join his little misfit band, be my guest. But I think it's lame."
After Harrison leaves, her brain replays what just happened, as it always does when something confrontational happens. Preston sorta notices she looks off and tries to distract her with a preview of a play he's working on. She only half-listens, her thoughts still bothering her but doesn't let it show.
When she's grabbed by vines, she flinches hard but doesn't scream as she's literally unable to scream for some reason. Preston grabs her arm and tries to keep both her AND Dolph from getting dragged off. (AND she tries to grip at grass)
In "Preston Goodplay's Good Play", Mona picks up a few balls as well after seeing Nerris do so (the colors of the balls basically being Asexual flag colors, but she won't find out she is ace until in her late teens. future foreshadowing) she immediately messes up when she attempts to copy Nerris and briefly picks up balls consisting of Demiromantic flag colors before messing up again and giving up.
When Preston mimics what David did, Mona smiles a bit, not because David got humiliated but because the way Preston reenacted that was a bit funny. She notices he's a bit nervous during the opening night performance and tries to offer comforting words. He says he appreciates it and acts normal until she goes to join the crowd, freaking out right after that.
When he caves in to the pressure to continue doing the Wacky Camp Counselor gig by the others, Mona gets bothered again and says "Just let him do his own thing." a bit angrily but Preston hurries to say it's fine and does what they wanted anyway. Throughout the montage, Mona is concerned, sensing that he's not into it as he's not exactly a closed book but every time she says he doesn't have to do it he insists it's fine and that he's just getting started.
After Preston shouts at Dolph to get out of his dressing room, Mona nervously approaches, nervous cause she heard him shout. She says it's her and when he doesn't object, she comes in, the mirrors are all normal now and she immediately notices he's burnt out. She tries to tell him again that he doesn't have to continue doing it, it's clearly wearing him out. He dismisses it, saying it's fine and besides, the others expect that of him, saying she should go join the others. She doesn't and says what they want doesn't matter, not if it has consequences. Already on edge, he starts venting a bit, about how it's the first time they actually LIKE something he does (while pacing) and he can't mess that up, even if it destroys him. Mona starts getting a bit annoyed on his behalf, asking if him collapsing cause of the stress in the end will be worth it and then Preston gets a bit angry and says that of course it will be.
Mona's shocked that he'd say that and asks why their opinions even matter that much, getting a little bit upset too that he's not budging. He half shouts
"You wouldn't GET IT! JUST... go. I'll be fine. (turns, much quieter) I have another show to plan."
"I'm not going anywhere. And if I have to, I'll tell the others you won't be able to do the next show. (calmer) Listen, it's okay to take breaks. I don't want you to overdo it."
Preston, eye twitching from stress, says he's not overdoing it (while raising a finger to emphasize it) and then tries to shoo and push her out the door himself but she steps aside and finally gets enough, raising her voice "WHY are you like THIS?! Are you really willing to give up doing what you want to do for something that makes anyone but you happy? (crosses arms) I'm just trying to help!"
And then he finally snaps under the pressure and shouts "I don't ''WANT'' YOUR HELP! Go be annoying somewhere else, I don't NEED YOU!"
And that gets her to freeze and pause. She takes it as him renouncing their friendship and tears up a bit against her own will, scowling without realizing it (she can't frown/scowl on command when trying for some reason, it only happens accidentally) before hurrying out the door. Preston immediately feels awful, starting to run after her after 7-8 seconds of being stunned. He runs into the others, says he's just doing rehearsals before hesitantly asks if any of them saw where Mona went by any chance. Nikki says "yeah, she went that way" (points into distance), says they heard shouting and came to see what happened. They prevent him from following her when he tries to, pressuring him into continuing the act (he tries to excuse himself but then they basically surround him and the same thing happens with him fainting from the overwhelm)
He has the dream and it plays out the same, until he asks where's Mona as she's not in the crowd and old Preston says that she never dared to come to his shows again but always watched from the sidelines. He sees an old version of her from afar but she vanishes when he attempts to go to her. When old him says they're sellouts, he wakes up and sees that Mona's there too, relieved when she sees he's up. (She had a small cry to herself before hearing commotion and after finding out he fainted, debates with herself whether he'd even want her there before going anyway, her conscience refusing to stay behind)
"Of course I am. (genuine smile) Not gonna get rid of me this easily." (crosses arms jokingly, though she's still stung by earlier, but he looked so relieved she's here that it gave her more confidence too) and after he runs out, Mona scolds the others with "Are you guys serious? That's why he fainted, cause he didn't even WANT to do the Camp Counselor act anymore! And you still kept pressuring him?" (But they don't really believe her as she said similar things earlier yet Preston still said it was okay) and then runs after him without waiting for a reply. She calls out "Hey, wait!" when he takes out the cardboard dagger causing him to freeze, touched that she came after him even after everything. Before he can say a word though, David makes his presence known and both kids sit on the log next to him. Preston admits how he feels with her being quiet throughout it.
When David says to do the thing that makes him happy, Mona pipes up with "He's right, you know. Who cares what they think anyway? I already like what you do. I don't think you need to change anything, and if they have a problem with that, well, that's on them. Don't give up because of that." Touched, he thanks her, calling her his co-star before apologizing to David and thanking him as well before they both run off.
While they're walking back, Preston apologizes for what he said. Mona says it's okay but he says it isn't and that he didn't mean any of it. She says that she knows now, and then hesitantly admits that she thought that meant they aren't friends anymore. He looks caught off guard at that before insisting he'd never ditch her, adding that he should've listened to her too.
Later the same evening, Mona's in the crowd (after saying "You got it" with a thumbs up earlier) and when he makes the insomnia joke, he looks in her direction purposefully and she immediately cracks up ever so slightly at that, not knowing why it even was funny. He does his own thing, also kinda motivated by her being present there. When everyone throws tomatoes at him, Mona frowns in disapproval but looks back to him instead to give him a thumbs up with a small smile (after mirror Preston gave him a slow clap) and he's literally beaming, feeling free again.
Mona joins him as he thanks David again, while Mona gestures (attempts) to the others to stop throwing tomatoes. One ends up hitting her after she calls out "Can you guys stop?" (whether accidentally or on purpose, I haven't decided yet) and she gives up. When they're done talking, she said "Went all out, huh?" And says she thought it was entertaining (she has no sense of time so when Gwen said it lasted 4 hours she was surprised, cause she thought it was less)
After Hours I described in the introductory post on Mona so, skip.
In "Camp Loser Says What?" She's caught off guard by the break-in and watches everything happening anxiously, until Snake knocks her down, next to the others who are in a pile. Her heart skips a beat when she sees Daniel (still remembering how she almost could've died during his first appearance)
She puts on the uniform with zero resisting, too afraid to and is quiet the entire time throughout the rest of the episode, standing by Preston and Nurf.
In "Squirrel Camp", she's baffled by the fact that SQUIRRELS of all animals took over the camp. And even moreso when she sees there's a squirrel version of her, that's friends with the squirrel version of Nerris instead of Preston as he isn't even there. She has a stick when everyone tries to take a stand and when they have to retreat, she finally has enough of the squirrels' "bullying" as she said and steps forward with a "You're little animals! What do you even need the camp for?! You have your own home so give it back, I'm not playing!", taking a defensive stance in case they attack and Nikki comments "Is Mona gonna fight a SQUIRREL?!", excited, until the squirrels lunge and Mona immediately rushes back to the others. Then Quartermaster shows up and it ends like in canon.
In "Cameron Campbell Can't Handle The Truth Serum", she's just casually walking by by herself when Campbell was "diagnosing" everyone with their problems when he notices her, points at her and says "And YOU-... I'd say a deep-rooted fear of getting abandoned by others and your emotions not being taken seriously, afraid of seeming "too much" to someone? (air quotes. Mona just blinks.) Also Asp_rg_rs Syndrome, what possibly made your life a living hell back home."
She's shocked at how he knew that, becomes paranoid that her inner thoughts aren't even private anymore and quickly leaves and then gets confused what AS is (she won't know she has Autism Spectrum Disorder until she hits 13, a day before her third summer. And I censored the word cause it's an outdated term and also offensive because of who it's named after), replays his words and at first worries it's something bad (like a secret virus maybe?) that she doesn't know about but later comes to the conclusion that she doesn't feel sick so it's okay and that Campbell just made it up. And stops worrying.
In "Campfire Tales", she's also genuinely creeped out by Space Kid's story but doesn't scream. She goes to bed worried she could have a nightmare as she's been told day's events can cause similar dreams to happen but wakes up next morning, relieved that she was wrong.
In "Fashion Victims", she joins Preston at the fashion show after he suggests she could come with and she thinks "Sure, why not? At least I won't be alone" and when he gets basically mowed over by the Flower Scouts she walks over and asks if he's okay and he gives a shaky thumbs up with a "Never.. b-better."
In "The Butterfinger Effect", she's once again confused over what the living frick is going on. She follows Preston around as he motivates her to work out but after she can't do push ups she says she'll sit this one out and just watch. Right after saying that she gets a sudden urge to go and throw together a "fiesta", adding "whatever that's supposed to mean" as she walks away. She tries to set up a snacks-n-stuff room in the mess hall but keeps getting interrupted (as in the table keeps getting knocked over with the cups before she can even fill them. She happens to stumble upon the others just as Max does his speech and then suddenly loses the interest to throw a fiesta. Back to being confused.
"......What the heck just happened?"
In "Time Crapsules", she doesn't laugh at Gwen with the others and begins "Guy-" before interrupted by Gwen running off. After that she says "You guys shouldn't laugh at things like that" to them with her arms crossed before looking after her.
When everyone are spiraling about the future, Mona adds "And *I* don't even know what I want to do! I like writing stories but... would they even be good enough to sell?" (before getting cut off by someone else panicking) and stares into her box while the others speak, scared that she's gonna be forced to have a job when she's an adult, but if she doesn't know what she wants to do then she has to choose randomly and she might start hating the job and that'd be awful- But when Campbell makes his speech her mood lifts and she adds "He's right. I think we should just take things easy, we have lots of time to figure out what we want to do after all."
In "St. Campbell's Day", she raises her hand too (cause she loves going to the beach) and then lowers it before doing a so-so motion when asked if they like digging holes) She's usually scared of singing when others are around but since everyone else is singing too, she joins in by the end, hoping they can't hear her voice too clearly. She doesn't know how to contribute to the "holiday" when everyone else are doing things and just watches from the sidelines.
And when Preston tells David to take a shower, calling him a "heathen", she slightly snickers as they leave the mess hall. She watches everyone else have fun later before seeing a football and starting to play with that, to have something to do too and join in. Her eyes light up at the fireworks, only to get caught off guard when she hears the camp's on fire, and then freaking out internally.
