They're not exactly babies here I hope that's okay
Doodles of my queen Sasha and that bitch from the wood scouts. Oh and max is there too
This latest commission is for the cool @fiend-for-rocks

on some max as a woodscouts au bullshit i might write about one day
The Three Leaders of Lake Lilac
Here is the drawing! I finally finished it, so now I can move on to other character designs. But before that, just as I promised, I want to talk about the camps in the current AU timeline and the relationships between them now that their leaders are, well, these little shits.
Camp Campbell
As I mentioned in previous posts, Camp Campbell reopens its doors in 2028 after its final closure in the summer of 2022. But let's dive deeper into the current state of the camp and how it actually functions now.
Regarding the camp in general... even if, deep down, it’s still the same strange and slightly illegal Camp Campbell, I wanted that to be much, MUCH harder to perceive with David and Max in charge. David definitely wouldn’t risk his dream camp again, but Max? We know he has no problem dabbling in morally ambiguous territory to get what he wants, and this time is no different.
The camp is probably in the best shape it’s been in years. The various sub-camps (Art, Magic, Theater, Science, etc.) are finally equipped with what they actually need. My god, David even managed to get real cabins built so campers don’t have to spend the entire summer in tents, and they even get relatively decent meals now. That said, the Quartermaster is still the cook. Only God could get him out of there. He basically hired himself back.
While the camp is better equipped and has counselors who actually know their stuff (for example, having Neil as a Science counselor is far more instructive than David or Gwen ever were), it still possesses that "rot" that only Camp Campbell has. It’s a place not everyone can handle.
Max plays a vital role in this new era. He was the one pulling the strings behind the scenes to get David the paperwork and capital to reopen. He returns as Head Counselor mainly because David asked him to, and because after everything it cost him to get the place back, he’s not letting anyone ruin it.
He’s also overhauled the camp’s structure to ensure David doesn't have such a hard time this year (so no, definitely no "Behavioral Correction Camp" this time). Since Max is focused on his own career, this will likely be the only summer he works here; he’s already juggling candidates to take over his spot next year.
If David provides the spirit, Max is the one who keeps everything on track. He’s stepped into the role Gwen used to have (handling administration and logistics) though he only interacts with the kids when strictly necessary. He prefers to manage the staff and the "behind the scenes" chaos while David handles all the other activities.
Max is actually in a great place in his life. He missed the counselors' training week because he was busy graduating from university on a sports scholarship. While you might expect a sports-related plot, he actually knows he doesn't want to compete anymore and prefers to keep it as a hobby. He’s confident, capable, and ironically has the fewest personal problems in this AU, which is saying a lot!
The fun part is that since he isn't the protagonist this time, we don’t always know what he’s planning or what his true objectives are until they’re already in motion.
Flower Scouts
This is one of my favorite parts of the AU, probably because I love Sasha. As I mentioned before, this is the most functional camp of the three. Even in the series, despite Miss Priss’s habits, they were organized. Sasha as Garden Mother would never allow that lack of discipline.
The Flower Scouts' problems tend to be internal (between scouts) rather than organizational. When Miss Priss suddenly left, it only took them a few weeks to find a replacement. Now it’s Sasha’s turn, and on paper, she’s the perfect candidate. As a scout, she was diligent and received the highest honor—the Golden Gardenia—before retiring.
However, she has some skeletons in her closet and definitely had her low moments during her teens. Despite everything, I think she loves the Flower Scouts... and the sense of power that comes with being the Garden Mother. She takes the job very seriously; you won't catch her smoking, and she keeps her hysterical outbursts under control to maintain an untarnished, intimidating figure that her scouts "love to worship." She’s still a bit of a jerk, but she’s learned the art of subtlety.
Due to her past mistakes, her relationship with Erin and Tabii is broken, and they aren’t exactly friends anymore. This is awkward since they also returned to Lake Lilac, but there’s nothing Sasha can’t handle with perfectly styled hair and a healthy dose of malice. She’s learned to navigate hierarchies and will do whatever benefits her most. While she hasn't militarized her scouts like Pikeman, she demands they meet "Flower Scout standards." Anything less is useless to her.
Wood Scouts
Like Camp Campbell, Troop 818 closed for a while. I noticed in the series that they have no adult supervision, which I thought was an excellent plot point. The troop was eventually disbanded, not just because they lacked enough scouts, but because of the total lack of monitoring. This happened just as Pikeman was close to achieving one of the Wood Scouts' highest honors (which wouldn't have happened if certain people hadn't reported them).
Pikeman tried to get the equivalent of an Eagle Scout, but due to the troop's collapse and the fact that he had to reclaim some badges, he ran out of time before turning 18. He’ll always have a bitter taste in his mouth because of that. Now, as Scoutmaster, he wants to lead his troop into a "golden age"—acting like one of those parents who forces their kids to achieve what they couldn't.
Surprisingly, he’s a competent Scoutmaster and open to his scouts having fun as long as they get their badges and meet his expectations. However, he’s still involved in morally questionable things, especially regarding Sasha and Max, whom he blames for his fall from grace (and he’s not wrong). He tries to act tough but often fails, which the scouts find hilarious. He still says... questionable things that his scouts then repeat, leading to disaster when he can't keep his mouth shut. But don't worry, he learns... eventually.
Inter-Camp Relationships
The relationships vary between counselors and campers. Among the leaders, it’s clear they hate each other. Pikeman especially loathes Sasha for what happened to his camp (he doesn't know Max was involved too) and hates Max just for sport.
Max and Sasha have a sort of "neutral competitiveness." They actually have a relatively good relationship because Max often diverts some of the budget to buy Flower Scout cookies to distribute at his camp. In exchange, the Flower Scouts handle Lake Lilac’s social events and other activities. It’s a win-win.
These dynamics trickle down to the campers. The Wood Scouts are always looking for trouble with Campbell or the Flower Scouts. Usually, the others just react, but this generation of Flower Scouts is quite feisty and won't hesitate to start a fight.
Nowadays, they are more "political." At David’s initiative, they organize inter-camp activities throughout the summer (an organized Camporee, social events, etc.). Of course, they use these to trip each other up while trying to remain subtle. Even if the campers don't notice, the leaders know when one of the others is behind a "strange occurrence" during an event, leading to a constant cycle of revenge. They are constantly trying to beat each other—at what? Sometimes even they don't know; they just want the others to lose. If you have any questions or would like to see a design for a specific character, just ask! I'd love to hear what you have to say.
