Carlisle stood off to one side in the opulent ballroom, refusing a glass offered to him by a waiter, the memories if his time with the Volturi causing him to be more than a little wary of any blood they offered. He turned to the person next to him, his shoulders shrugging slightly. “I know that they said there would be animal blood here but I don’t trust them enough to risk it. Back when I stayed with them it seemed, to me at least, that trying to get me to taste human blood was a game. Aro once dumped a profusely bleeding body outside the library in an attempt to tempt me. Needless to say we parted ways soon after.”
