Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua ———————————————— There can only be 1 "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field. If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card. Your opponent cannot target this card for attacks. This card can attack your opponent directly. If this card is destroyed by a card effect, except by its own effect: Destroy all cards on the field. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Stardust Overdrive (SOVR-EN024), Legendary Collection 5D's Mega Pack (LC5D-EN151)
Playing arround the Earthbound Immortal archetype is more complicated than it looks compared to other themes in the card game. Due their dependance on Field Spells and the fact only one of these monsters can exist on the board regardless of owner, most of the investment arround the archetype will focus in a single Earthbound Immortal or two at max. This is far of a problem in the long runhowever, as although in the basics each Earthbound Immortal shares the same advantages and disadvantages they provide an unique ability of their own. Therefore, although playing arround this archetype will be reduced to one or two members, we can focus our build arround their possibilities involving their respective effects.
"Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua" can become one of the most riskful members of this archetype as can easily punish both players as a result. Like the rest of Earthbound Immortals, "Ccarayhua" is able to direct attack while in return the opponent will be unable to attack it, but in return there can only be one of these monsters on the board as well destroy itself if there's no active Field Spells. Then there's the main effect of "Ccarayhua", in which if is destroyed by an effect which isn't its own in return will wipe out the entire board in return. This is an extremely dangerous ability given the fact that "Ccarayhua" will keep attacking directly and other options we can support it with. But while we can leave it alone and threat the opponent from destroying all cards on the field if they defeat "Ccarayhua", there are some tools we can work along and make this Earthbound Immortal more unpredictable than it looks.
"Ccarayhua" has overall the same options as any other Earthbound Immortal when comes to its summon, but gains some extra tools thanks to being Reptile-Type to become available from early to late game. First and most important we have to assure a Field Spell so "Ccarayhua" can stay alive, easily achieved by searching effects like "Metaverse" and "Terraforming". While we can work along Field Spells providing coverage or disruptive effects against the opponent, a good option would be "Mausoleum of the Emperor" as will skip the need of any materials to Tribute Summon "Ccarayhua" and use our Life Points instead. "Ccarayhua" might be one of the fastest Earthbound Immortals to prepare thanks to "King of the Feral Imps", using its Xyz materials to search this monster ready for its summon afterwards. When comes to materials for a Tribute Summon there's a wide range of options to choose from, ranging from Nimble monsters and "Fires of Doomsday" bringing several monsters with no much effort, to cards like "The Monarchs Stormforth" using opponent monsters for the summon. Later on if "Ccarayhua" is defeated should be easily revived by cards like "Call of the Haunted" and "Revival of the Immortals", but more importantly the Spell Card "Viper's Rebirth" as will also trigger its mass removal effect once the card's demerit destroys it during the End Phase.
Overall, "Ccarayhua" will do the same job as any other Earthbound Immortal of declaring attacks while cards like "Mound of the Bound Creator" or "Necrovalley" restricts the opponent's options further. However, "Ccarayhua" has the risk of clearing the whole field if is destroyed an effect, so the opponent must be extra careful dealing with this monster. While we can simply wait to either defeat the opponent with this monster's attacks or be destroyed by an effect, "Ccarayhua" has some interesting cards to time its mass removal without having to wait for the opponent to do so. The opponent might use cards like "Compulasory Evacuation Device" or stronger attacks to deal with "Ccarayhua" without triggering its effect, so before that happens we can respond with "Offering to the Snake Deity", a Trap Card usually used to destroy cards but in this case will clear the field by the Earthbound Immortal's effect requeriments. "Call of the Haunted" and "Oasis of Dragon Souls" not only are solid choices to revive "Ccarayhua" in late game, but can also be chained against removal effects and wipe out the entire board as punishment. Finally, since "Ccarayhua" will obviously make us lose cards in the process once destroyed, we can play arround cards like Fire Kings (Which are able to destroy "Ccarayhua" in our hand and activate its effect) or "Geartown" to activate their effects and immediately recover from any losses.
"Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua" is a dangerous monster for both players as the simplest countermeasures can punish the entire board as a result. However, thanks to being Reptile and other options to support its main effect, "Ccarayhua" will often gain the upper hand to time its effect perfectly without having to wait for the opponent to use a non-destructive card to deal with the Earthbound Immortal. "Ccarayhua" is overall perfectly supported in several aspects, but is often overshadowed by "Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu" which although only destroys monsters it has more liberties as well OTK setups arround its effect. But even so, thanks to several options ranging from archetype cards to those from the Reptile-Type, "Ccarayhua" is in a solid position to either defeat the opponent or take the entire field with it under all kinds of circumstances.
Personal Rating: A-
+ Able to direct attack + The opponent cannot attack it + If is destroyed outside its demerit it will clear the entire field in return + Solid support for its summon as well activating its removal effect
- Destroys itself if there's no Field Spells active - Various ways to get rid of it without triggering its effect - Often overshadowed by "Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu" similar options and setups
