don’t fall asleep – a young adult paranormal story. it includes sleep paralysis, a little bit of romance and everything in between. i came up with the story last year in may.
synopsis (short ver):
winter hates it when she falls asleep because then she would dream. she could never remember a time when she was able to fall asleep without fear and wake up with a dry pillow. but everything changed after getting involved with the transfer student, who can’t seem to leave her alone.

so, uh, i’ve been writing since i was thirteen. and now that i’m thinking about those days, i can’t help but cringe at myself. i mean, i like to think i have great concepts but my writing? L O L
back then i only write fanfictions (i still do, sort of) but eventually, i started to write about my originals characters. i still have my fanfiction wips here and sometimes i go through them to see if i’ve improved. and i think i did.

DAY ONE: INTRODUCE YOURSELF (×)

my name is aye (as in the letter a.) i’ve been in the community since june 2020 (based on my oldest post.) but i only became active around december last year.
i’m not new to tumblr though, i’ve been around - lurking.
i’m an amateur writer with a lot of wips. if you happen to stumble upon my wip page, you’ll see. but am i working on them? yes, of course. does daydreaming about them counts? lol.
i don’t have any preference in writing and reading, as long as it piques my interest, i’ll jump on it.
aside from writing, i also enjoy editing stuff and watching films/tv series. i’m a huge fan of horror, the paranormal, and everything in between.
i don’t want to make this long. so, uh, here’s my writeblr intro for more.

i'm answering the alternative question because why not? please, don't mind me.
it's called the morose cat (that's its current title and the final, i guess.) i started writing it in 2014! it's a story involving the myth of the chinese cat god (does that count as a folklore fantasy?) i made my own little version of the myth. and the story follows after the cat god was able to bargain with the creator gods. and after someone vandalized the god's forgotten temple on top of the hill. it involves a curse, transformations, angsty backstories, and everything in between.
my first draft of the story already had sixteen chapters but i was getting nowhere with it so i left it for a while. last year though, i started working on it again and even finished the prologue and the first chapter. it's quirky!

this snippet is from tales. it's a story involving a band and a girl; a spin off of another wip. i like this particular scene because i think it's funny and i enjoyed writing it.
transcript:
“asa dominique martinez!” sei turned around, hearing his full name blurted from the crowd. the call roared over the hundreds of fans and paparazzi following the group. everyone went silent and turned their heads to the source. it was a woman around the same age as the boys, wearing an oversized white t-shirt and hello kitty pajama bottoms with a huge water gun in hand. sei was caught up with her boldness and humor that he didn’t notice her running towards him fast. she caught sei by the hand and dragged him inside the restaurant’s women’s comfort room.
“are you sei?” she asked as she trapped the poor vocalist against the lavatory. the rest of the band and their manager started banging on the door, calling for sei.
“tell them you’re fine,” she ordered, so he did.
“so, are you sei?”
“i am.” the woman sighed with relief. she got off sei and reached for her phone tucked in her pajama’s side pocket.
sei started to think about escaping, but he couldn’t see himself fitting through the window above one cubicle. but the woman wasn’t terrifying in the first place. she’s wearing pajamas and carrying a water gun for pete's sake. sei found it funny, actually.
“anne? it’s me, i got him.” then she turned back to sei and handed him her phone. sei was hesitant but he didn’t know what she’s capable of so he complied.
“hello?”
“hello?”
“is this sei?”
“yes. and you are?”
“i’m anne and i’m such a big fan! i’m in the hospital right now, recovering my foot. i’m sorry i troubled you with my sister, she’s kind of intense.” sei spared a looked at his captor and he immediately regretted it. she seemed very impatient. “you must know, i told her to reach you properly. but right now, the headlines say you’ve been abducted by a lunatic inside the women’s comfort room at a local restaurant.” he heard anne sighed. “i just wanted to hear you sing.”
might as well. sei thought to himself. he didn’t have a choice. if he wouldn’t, anne’s sister might do something to him. so, sei sang one of their hit songs and she loved it.
“i hope you get well soon, anne.”
“thank you sei! i love you!” the call ended after that and the woman immediately grabbed her phone back.
“you know, you could have asked nicely. you freaked everyone out.”
she rolled her eyes at sei’s remark then said, “don’t lecture me. sending you a request is troublesome and it would take months to get a response. i simply improvised. i’m resourceful. and now that my job is done, i will take my leave.” she went inside a cubicle got up the toilet and went out of the window. that’s someone you don’t encounter every day.

okay, here's the thing. i haven't read many books and only know few authors. that's kind of embarrassing to admit, but it's the truth (i think im the only reader in the household and we weren't introduce to many literary works at school.) but i have a long tbr list. if you have recommendations, please, send 'em.
my absolute favorite right now is the miss peregrine's home for peculiar children series by ransom riggs. hence, my blog title. a friend had a copy and told me i would love it. she wasn't wrong. currently on book four (slow reader, almost finished though.)

the spot belongs to diwa! she's a noble elementalia. an enkantada, one of the enchanted ones.
enkantos and enkantadas in our folklore are shapeshifters. they enchant humans often with intentions to marry them and make them their slaves. but in my wip, it has been stopped when maharlika was established.
i've created an angsty story for diwa. she fell in love with a human. that's right, her love is ✨forbidden✨. and she knows it. as a noble elementalia, she is expected to marry an enkanto (with admirable and formidable reputation) who can be by her side when she finally takes over as her tribe's ruler.
what she wants is closure. so she left the forest and pleaded for angela and angelo's aid.
her dynamics with angelo and angela (main ocs) is a bit complicated (to an extent), especially with angela. nothing major (but will definitely affect some events in the story.) angela's just holding a grudge, lol.
DAY THIRTY: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WRITING OVERALL? (×)

besides creating the characters and their universe, a favorite part would be incorporating those little details about the problem of the story or the tragedy my characters would have to go through. i really love doing that and sometimes they're so subtle and would seem so irrelevant that anyone who'd read it would dismiss it immediately. hahaha. but you know, i haven't had any discussions about it yet.
writing also pushes me to learn a lot of things. ♡
another favorite would be graphic editing. it is part of my writing process and it is something i enjoy A LOT. i'm so extra with it. have you noticed? LOL. i like setting up themes for the graphics, browsing for stock photos to use, fonts, looking for references and more. it helps me visualize more of the story and my characters. i guess that's it? i feel like there's more though. haha.
