Heres a bit of a story on this AU Where she adopts Space Kid:
I don't think Space Kids parents care, thats a Theory of mine, and his uncle is his legal guardian now.
When the uncle passed away because of a Heart attack, Space Kid was still on the camp.
So social services came, asked to speaker with David because in this AU he Also adopted Max. Things end up happening and Gwen is now on a probation program idk and she Gets custody of Neil jr.
Gwen isnt very thrilled about this, she is just strating a new life with this new job and new apartment she doesnt want Space Kid,she thinks itll ruin her chances of getting a new life
Gwen as we know is very insecure of herself, and that Gets worse when her boyfriend realices she has now a kid.
She's trapped in this abusive relarionship and- now she thinks it's getting worse because of this kid.

If I'm honest, I know I would give it all back
For a chance to start over
And rewrite an ending or two
For that girl that I knew
As time progresses and situattions happen Gwen finnaly decides to leave her boyfriend sorry ass and thats because she realized that she has been doing the same to this kid who already had been through that, SO she wanted to change ... To give a better life for both of them.
And who I was has disappeared
