Exhibition prints are ready for hanging, a big massive thank you to legends Kirsty Macafee and Colour Factory for sponsoring us.
Our show is on at Fitzroy Town Hall this Tuesday 6 September from 6pm - 7:30pm.
More portraits created by the students over the last 7 weeks.
Week 7.
Public art.
For week 7 the students and I pasted up their selected images created over the last 6 weeks to the exterior wall of my studio in Vere St Collingwood. The wall is located in the same street as Collingwood College allowing the students to view their work and show family and friends when travelling to and from school.
Despite the terrible weather conditions all of the students showed exceptional commitment and enthusiasm during our session.
Please feel free drop by and check out their brilliant work.
Extra special thanks to Dulux for donating the vibrant blue paint for the wall.
Week 5.
Vist to NGV international.
For week 5 the students and I visited NGV. We were lucky enough to witness the exploding of Steve Carrs watermelon, you can see the work here: https://vimeo.com/125964478
All images attached to this post were taken by the students at NGV.
Week 4.
Making a mini studio, colour and objects.
For week 4 the students learnt how to set up a mini lighting studio using a cardboard box, a lamp and fabric, we looked at artists Elad Lassry (image 1) and local artist Lydia Wegner (image 2) for inspiration.
Check in next week to see our images from this session.
First session today with these legends.
It was windy and bright hanging out on the CCP wall but we covered some good basics and after a quick photo shoot the students headed out to take photos of photos on and around Smith St.
The average Australian consumes over 1000 images per day.
Over the next 2 weeks the students are consciously looking for images everywhere they go, on the street, in the supermarket, online, on clothing, in books and magazines etc. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the images they find and discussing their new found levels of consciousness.
Next session is on Tuesday 26 July, we cover SLR camera settings, portraiture and the selfie with a focus on local artist Salote Tawale.
