all-too familiar scenario
strangely specific meme i’ve been rotating in my head for a swap AU where ezell starts off as the Saddest Sarkaz Guy Alive with unresolved issues and a half sarkaz half sankta daughter to take care of while wisadel is a fallen sankta who usually enjoys offing up sarkaz (regardless of who gets in the crossfire, hence the falling) then sees him for the first time and immediately thinks “i can fix her”

Me, sniffling: Awhh th a t s ss weet
The more I think about it the more Fiammetta and Cecelia were perfect choices for the pov characters of guide ahead since they high light the two biggest issues in Laterano. Cecelia despite being a essentially Sankta is treated like pariah by Sankta society just for existing, up until the very moment she’s deemed useful then suddenly she’s fine though she still now allowed to stay in Laterano since like Mostima who kept under the eyes of the church but is for the most part out of country (and had to keep the pope from killing her at one point) she’s still a threat to the status quo. Even before her mom died she basically lived a life in hiding in Laterano just because of her race, when to most people she would just look like a Sankta she could never be “one of them” she’s laterano’s racism taking to the very extreme.
Then there’s Fia who although she takes it on a personal level is the person more actively hurt by Sankta empathy. It’s pretty clear that what’s bothering her isn’t just that Andoain hurt Lemuen and Mostima but that society, and those two just wave what he did off cause of the empathy, while she’s stuck in the past not just lamenting how she views herself as unable to protect them but also wondering if what she’s feeling is wrong cause everyone can just move on due to the empathy. Which even though her reaction is extreme it’s a lot more normal then being able to “move on” from being put in a coma for 5 years. It’s sorta funny that despite people expecting her to be the one to break the racial barrier she’s left isolated and angry because of that very racial barrier no matter how much people like Mostima and Lemuen try to understand her.
