Details in Possibly In Michigan (1983) by Cecilia Condit, that I love

1) general vocal layering esp in perfume and the scene where Arthur is attacking Sharron. (No no no no no repeated and why?/but do you love me? being echoed along with a most of Sharron’s lines up to ‘so I am the [seventh]’, although the former is much more noticeable, I only started to hear the i love you when I watched it with noise cancelling headphones)

2) the framing changing form what you’d expect from a film to you being in the scene to you watching them. Not to mention the color grading (I think) and the practical effects of the superimposed images

3) The MUSIC it’s one of my favorite parts both lyrically and instrumentally. It subtly changes in the background depending if the scene is centered on the girls or Arthur the cannibal. In the reprise of “there’s a strange looking man at my door” it’s a lot happier and easy going, albeit still leaning into the surreal and unnerving nature of the film and condit’s works as a whole

4) speaking of practical effects! The head! We first see it in Sharron’s garden when Arthur picks up the brick(?) implying the coming violence but also past violence

Possibly in Michigan is one of if not my favorite horror films I genuinely love find more and more about it every time I rewatch it (or getting to see people’s reactions when I watch it with them)
