i love annie shapiro and her not having any filter "sorry i had to go use the restroom, i was peeing myself" and her nerdy excitment to get to learn from grace

i love olesya ilyukhina, her bravery and childlike innocense, hugging the earth's dicatator like nothing, taking her teddy bear to a suicide mission, and literally sacrificing her life for humanity without a second thought

i loved dr. lokken's pride and her beef with grace about his theory

i love eva stratt and her love for humaity being so big that she had to destroy herself to give humanity a real chance to have a future

I think my favorite way to combat the white savior trope with bloodymary while still acknowledging that yes, Grace IS gonna have to do some saving and deconstructing (Simon DID just get out of the worst week of his life and that’s not even mentioning the death cult of it all) is to have Grace just be some guy roommate.

Like, the eridians did all the work. They found the sub however they did, they used the knowledge they had bringing Grace back from the brink of death to do the same with Simon. Grace is only there for fact checking and asking “hey, we don’t have the budget or space to make a whole new enclosure, mind if we stick this guy in there with you???”

My second favorite way is having Simon appear while Grace is in that “starving to death and dying from every disease imaginable” point and the eridians are taking care of BOTH of them, but that also makes me want to die with them.

HOW is there not a blender emoji??? Anyways. ☝️ Put them in a blender. Simon "Lives" AU idea (not official name).

Now throw some tomato juice and vodka in there and make it bloodymary too. How? Idkkkk make it much the same as the usual but a whole lot more angst on Simon's part of "what the fuck did the eel fucking do to me????" and even more confusion biology for Grace to study (for enrichment).

Or hell, maybe even an amnesia story where Simon is more like the creature at first because he can't recall what happened but the nightmares and hallucinations and everything are still very real and slowly it all comes back to him and he's terrified and the only thing he knows is real anymore is Grace.

Every now and again I become AWARE of the Little Butcher au.

Like there’s always gonna be the hypothetical child self when it comes to characters. The little kids that usually you don’t get to see on screen. Like in Grace’s case, we never see his child self. It makes it hard to fully visualize scenarios when he was small like that and how life was in his childhood.

But little Simon we DO see. We know exactly what he looks like and exactly what he becomes.

When I become aware that THIS is the little guy I’m drawing comics of and writing about during the fishing incident, the aftermath of such, it’s all happening to this guy.

And then I think about how his face is so round and clothes are so big and his legs are so thin and hands are so small covered in blood :(
