“It’s so annoying. I can’t believe someone can bethat pathetic. Like, who does he think he is? Why can’t I get somerespect, as well?” Malia groaned and leaned her back against thewall. Thomas studied her. He had known her for a very long time andit wasn’t often she got her anger out like this. It wasn’t often shegot her anger out at all. And now she stood her and complained aboutsomething, something with her job, how all the males were prioroty ineverything. He even swore he heard her say she was going to killsomebody under her breath. As her all time best friend, he listenedto her. He felt like he was the only one she would tell this to. Himand Lilian. She trusted him, and he trusted her. “It’s fine. Butyou’re right. They’re all asses.” That made Malia stop and lookup at him. In that moment, a rushing, exploding feeling struckThomas. He had never felt it before. “I’m sorry you have tolisten to this,” she said and gave him a smile. “Don’tapologize,” Thomas said. “So, you’ll listen to more of mycomplaining?” She raised her eyebrows. She was so adorable. “Ofcourse,” he said with a wry smile. And she continued, but all hecould look at now, was her lips. How they moved. How adorable she wasthose few time she talked a lot. In a second, he was so sure he wouldlean in and stop her talking by pressing his own lips against hers. But he never did. It was way too spontanious and the feeling was newto him. He would never do something like that when he could pictureall the consequences. What would she think of him? It was better tojust hold it back and hide it, like he normally did with everythingelse.

“How did I end up making the sauce? I am terribleat it, and you know that. If you don’t take over soon, It wont beeatable.” Malia looked at Thomas with raised eyebrows while herhand stired the sauce in the casserole. “You have to do it,Thomas. And then I can cut the vegetables.” In that quickmovement, as she reached out for the knife he held, it also tore downthe casserole. It hit the floor with a loud crashing sound and allthe sauce spread out on the kitchen floor. It was silent for a momentas they both stared at the brown liquid on the floor. “See,”Malia then said. “Inedible.” Oh, how much Thomas laughed.Malia mumbled on about how she failed so hard, and meanwhile Thomaslaughed. Not long after they both sat on the floor after using waytoo many towels to clean up. “I’m really sorry I messed up.”“Shh,” Thomas stopped her and met her eyes as he looked ather. Her hair was messy and she had this look in her eyes, as she wasapologizing for every wrong thing she had ever done. He just wantedto kiss it all away, make her hair even messier. But he didn’t. Hejust smiled. “Nah, don’t be sorry.” And then he lookedaway.
three.
“You look very beautiful tonight.” The wordsescaped his lips without any control, just the sight of her made himweak in his knees. Malia blushed lightly and gave him a shy andadorable smile. “Oh, well, thank you, Thomas,” she said andher smile turned friendly. Friendly. Shewore a red silky dress, in her hair she had a golden bow and largecurls laid perfectly over her shoulders. Why had he never realizedhow beautiful she truly was before? “I thought about a redlipstick, but decided to drop it. I’ll know Lilian will wear thattonight, so, yeah,”Malia added a bit careful, yet with another smile in his direction.“I loveit just like it is.” His eyes went over her lips. They were allnatural, and that’s what heprefered.Natural. It wasn’t a secret that he had realized how his heartbeatwas going faster and if it hadn’t been for Lilian who suddenly stoodin front of them, he would probably have leaned in towards her. If hehad kissed her, he don’t know, and he never will know, but he sureas hell thought about.

“Yousure you’re okay?” Thomas asked Malia and she nodded. She hadjust told him about everything that had happened with Mike. He hadgiven her the whole speech about how she was way better than him, andhe was just a plain loser. She was sad, but it seemed like shealready was over it. “Yes, I promise you. Thank you so much forbeing here with me.” She laid her head on his shoulder. Thomaswould lie to himself if he saidhe didn’t think about kissingher. Why? He didn’t know. He didn’t see anything right about it. Itwould only be taking advantage of the situation and how sad she was.And by the way, she probably needed it simple. She just needed herfriend. Not a friend that just makes more drama. But he thought aboutit. He just wanted to make her happy.
five.
“Thank youeveryone. So glad you all were heretonight.” Malia’s wordswerefollowed byan applause. “Wonderful. You were wonderful,” Thomas saidto her as she reached him by the bar. “Thank you. It means a lotthat you’re here,” Malia answered and smiled happily at him.“Are you kidding me, I wouldn’t miss one time you sing.”She blushed lightly and looked down. She had never blushedlike that in front of him before. Now he felt like he had just met her and she had this stupid crush onhim. Things werechangingbetween them, and he hoped for the better. It really felt like that,or maybe it was just Thomaswho, for once, felt confident.God, how he wanted to lean down and place a soft kiss on her lips andtell her she was wonderful all over again. But it didn’t feel right. Was it the people surrounding them? Was it too soon? “Well, Igotta go back to work, but I’m done by ten. Need something to drink?”Malia continued like normal after her cheeks had gone back to itsordinary color.
+ one.
What made him do itthis time, was not easy to know. There must be something different. She knew how much he loved her, probably more than he did himself, but she had done for a while, also the last time he had thought aboutit. What made him do it now and not the last time? Maybe because itfelt so right?“Thanks for taking me,”Malia said as they walked down the street. He had taken her to a gigwith this singer she really enjoyed. She had looked speechless as thesinger, falling in love with every word she sang, and Thomas hadlooked speechless at Malia, falling in love with her over and overagain. “It was wonderful, it really was,” Thomas said andsmiled at her. It was cold as the winter laid over them, but soonthey were in the warmth of her apartment. “Thanks for followingme,” Malia said. “I’d ask you to stay, but it’s prettylate. I’m kind of tired.” “I know, me too,” Thomasanswered and smiled. He moved his hand up to her cheek and stroke itlightly. In that second he felt himself get nervous. He had given hertime. Now he could kiss her, couldn’t he? He didn’t think that muchabout it, he just did it. He leaned in and placed his lips softly onhers. She kissed back and he could feel his heart race faster than ever.Finally. It was happening. “You know, nevermind,” shewhispered against his lips after the soft, short kiss. “Stay. Ifyou don’t mind me falling asleep in your arms.” “Of courseI don’t mind,” Thomas answered and kissed her again.

❤fivetimes my muse says they don’t love yours, and the one time theyadmit it.
one.
Love. Louise had loved a lot, but she knew that it tooka while before she was certain. Yet still, the night she and Noahkissed for the first time, in the hallway of her apartment, she wasso sure she loved him. She had fallen in love, yes, that was a whileago, but she hadn’t been sure if she loved him yet. Aftertheir lips had parted and she looked up in his eyes, the words hadbeen repeating over and over in her head. But her lips didn’t letthem out. It was probably for the best, she wanted to take it slow.
two.
The other time was not so shortly after. They weretalking on the phone, discussing if they were going to have a movienight over at her place or his. “We were at mine last time, weshould be at yours now,” Noah said and Louise laughed. “Fine, but then I get to decide what we will watch.” “What? Uhm,okay, well, you know we have to watch Orphan Black, right? We haveto.” “No, I thought we could watch something different thistime,” Louise said and a grin appeared on her face – which henaturally couldn’t see. She was joking, but he didn’t get it. “But…but I have to know what’s gonna happen… Louise.” It was soadorable how serious he got about it and she laughed. “We’llsee,” she said and then the doorbell rang. Janet was here.“Well, I gotta go. Talk to you later, I-” But she stopped.I love you? That’s what she had been ready to say. Maybe not readyenough, since she had stopped. “Yes, bye,” Noah saidwithout thinking about it and hung up. That is probably the one timeshe was most pleased she hadn’t said it. Saying I love you for thefirst time over the phone. That wouldn’t have been her style.
three.
“I feel like I’m fifteen,” Louise added andlaughed slightly. “Me too, actually,” Noah answered. “Ifeel like everyone think this is a normal date, but I never do thisanymore,” Louise added and Noah laughed. The movies. They wereat the movies. Louise was almost never at the movies. Maybe becausein her mind it was a bit childish, and the two of them were verygrown-up. But out of the two of them, it would be more natural if shewould suggest it, but it had actually been Noah. “I don’t evenknow what movie we are going to watch,” Louise added and it madeNoah laugh again.
The movie had been good. It was this deep-meaningromantic movie about life and Louise never remembered the name. “Thatwas a lot of fun, actually. We always watch movies and TV-shows athome. And I feel like a teenager again,” Louise said as theywalked out of the cinema building. “I know. Wanna eat pizzasomewhere? A cheap place?” “Hm, pizza in the middle of thenight? Why not?” Louise answered with a bright smile. Noah wasthe best in every way, but this topped it. She hadn’t seen much ofthis side of him before, and he brought it out in her aswell. It wasperfect, absolutely perfect. “Noah, I,” but she stopped. Helooked at her with a questioning look, but she just smiled and shookher head. “Nothing,” she said and he dragged her inside thepizza shop. She had been right to not say it. It was too soon, she wasn’t even sure if she would mean it if she said it.

Louise tripped up the stairs to the entrance door ofJulliard and greeted a teacher she had seen here the last times shehad been here. “I think he’s in his office,” the teachersaid and Louise nodded. But he wasn’t there when she knocked on thedoor and peeked her head in. She stood there for a minute, wonderingwhat to do now. She walked to the lunch room, but he wasn’t thereeither. “You’re looking for mr.Richmond, right?” an olderwoman said. Louise had been her to get Noah a few times lately andthey seemed to recognize her. Louise nodded. “Yes.” “Ithink he’s in room 304, it’s down the hall there and to the left. That’s where his last class was.” “Thank you,” Louisesaid with a smile and started walking calmly down the hall. She wasin no hurry, and found herself studying the pictures on the walls. Asshe entered the door to the room, it stood wide open and luckily –Noah stood there. Or he sat by the piano, studying some papers heheld in his hands. He seemed very caught up in it, he had that lookon his face that showed that you shouldn’t disturb him. So shedidn’t. She stood there, leaned her right side to the doorframe. Helooked absolutely adorable. He was everything she could ever wishfor. Intelligent, sweet, gentle, handsome, charming, and he had aburning passion – his job. People weren’t really anything if theydidn’t live for something. He was perfect for her. She loved him. Shedid. She admited it to herself, but she didn’t say it. “Oh,you’re here.” His voice disturbed her thoughts, she hadn’trealized that he had looked at her. “Yeah,” she said andsmiled. “I’m sorry you have to wait. I’ll be right there.”He stood up and packed his things together. “That’s fine,”Louise answered and waited patiently. “Now,” Noah walked upto her, gave her a light kiss on the cheek. “Let’s go and eat.”
five.
It had been a wonderful night. Ryan and Debbie, acouple Louise was particularly good friends with, also recentlygotten pregnant, had joined them out on this restaurant. Noah had metthem just once before and this was the first time they had donesomething like this together. They talked, laughed and ate, andLouise enjoyed every second. Noah was also in a very good moodtonight, and after a few glasses of wine, he and Ryan discussedeverything that could be discussed. After the food, they walked a bitaround in the calm part of Central Park. It was dark and the sky wasstarry – and the atmopshere was perfect. Noah and Ryan walked sideby side and talked, and Louise and Debbie did the same, just a littlebehind the guys. “The two of you seem very happy,” Debbiesaid. “It hasn’t been that long since the romance hit, right?”Louise laughed slightly. It had always been in the air, the hint ofromance, but at the same time they had stayed friends for so longuntil it went over to something romantic. Louise loved that. Shereally loved how mature they were. The kiss had obviously changedeverything, and after it, things just went faster and faster. “You’reright. I think that’s a good thing. It’s like you and Ryan. You werefriends for years before something happen, and look how happy youare.” Debbie smiled and nodded. “I think you love him,”she said. “I do,” Louise answered. Right in that secondRyan turned around. “How’s our ladies?” he said and the twoof the stopped until the girls reached them. Noan put his hand onLouise’s back and Louise put her arm around his waist. She loved him.But she didn’t say it this time either. She wasn’t scared if she gotit back, or maybe she was? Was it too soon? She didn’t know, she justknew she loved him. “Maybe we should head home soon? It’sgetting late,” Louise could hear Debbie say in the distance.
+ one.
From Louise had started thinking about saying ‘I loveyou’ – the first time they kissed - and till she actually did it,wasn’t a very long time. Just a few weeks, maybe. Two? Three? Shedidn’t know. But what she knew was that she would say it when she wasready. And this time she was. This time she didn’t even think itthrough, like she had those other times. It was the morning after thefirst time she had stayed the night over at his place, the nightafter the double date with Debbie and Ryan. No, they hadn’t had sex.Just been sleeping. “Should we perhaps go out and eatbreakfast?” Noah’s English accent made Louise smile. She sat upand looked at him, who was standing beside the bed, with sweatpantsand bare chest. “Maybe,” she said and moved up to him. Shesat on her knees at the end of the bed and reached out for him, whichmade him move up to her. “I like you in my shirt,” hewhispered and took his arms around her waist. Louise was wearing oneof his T-shirts beside her panties. “I love that shirt on me,but it looks better on you,” he continued. “Well, you knowwhat I love?” Louise said and raised her eyebrows. Now she saidit. The thing she didn’t say last night. “You.” “Ilove you too,” he answered immediately, like he had known shewould say it. “Good,” she said before she kissed him, andsaying ‘I love you’ for the first time turned into making love forthe first time.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear about your grandma! I'm sure she was an amazing woman and that she finds peace wherever she is now <3 I'm happy to hear you have such a strong and loving family to help you through the loss. If you ever need anything (though I know we've never really talked before) you can always message me!
Thank you so much! It’s very very sweet of you to message me. She really was a remarkable woman. Like I could go on and on all day about how great she was. And yes, my family is really wonderful in times like these. It’s not like the movies with people sitting around and crying all the time. We manage to find the good in the situation :)
