Birthdays were not sacred enough to be exempt from her reign of terror.

Evie was overstimulated from the moment she saw everything. It took seconds for Cedric to regret not bringing her on a leash; not even anyone with superhuman...er, superdragon reflexes would be able to stop his infamous little bundle of joy with how fast she gave him the slip.

The scent of cake wafting from a nearby table lured her towards it. A quick crouch put enough spring into Evie’s step to get her to her destination...actually, there might’ve been too much spring.

Crashing into the cake head-on like a freight train (utter evisceration of the hapless victim included), Evie flipped over and scrabbled for anything in reach to halt herself, yanking off the tablecloth and sending everything on it toppling to the ground.

Paper plates were literal lifesavers.

While nearby hatchlings got the idea to go to town on the splattered cake without regard for table manners - which was fair, there hadn’t been any cutlery; Evie’s horns tore a pair of holes in the tablecloth and trapped her beneath it.

As to be expected of a capricious infant, this flicked a switch. She immediately grew frenzied and started bulleting around aimlessly in an effort to detach her fabric prison.

And to think all this went down in the time it took Cedric to make it halfway over to the table. A new record!
