Getting back into this quilt while I have the energy.
Okay. Anya Forger costume build part two. The previous thread was getting long, and Tumblr hates when you plug too many photos into a post chain.
This is the end goal.
Note that there are little circles up near Anya’s collar and at the ends of the topstitching at her skirt. These also appear on her sleeves in other screenshots of her costume. I ended up using buttons that I painted gold.
I also made a brooch from cheap sculpey clay that I baked and painted with some gold acrylic that I mixed with cadmium yellow acrylic.
I had to rewatch a chunk of season two to get more details of the costume from different angles. I am not sad about this. I am obsessed with this show.
I was trying to think of how best to finish the edge of the ends of the red ribbon at the collar. I was going to use a hand stitch, but that was a disaster. Then I realized that grosgrain is 100% polyester, which means that YES, IT MELTS.
All I had to do was run a lit match over the ends.
So, I am not mad about this. I hope I can make more progress today.
Fucking around with some quilt blocks.
Working on a little sewing commission, namely constructing sleeves to add to an unfinished flamenco dress for my friend’s dance recital. It’s in TWO WEEKS and I am having to hustle my ass off because I work an extra shift this week and I am doing a summer nutrition class to try to finish a little more of my program. Ugggghh…
This is the mockup sleeve that I used for fit-testing and drafting. The fabric in the topmost pics is the eyelet and the ruffles are the crepe that I am using for the eventual sleeves.
I hope I don’t fuck this up.
Making a Harley Quinn part two post, because the first post is getting enormous.
Progress on the hat and “baseballs” that I made from broadcloth and batting, since I was the dumbass that didn’t buy loose poly-fil this time and minky knit like I used for the original costume I made my daughter. Alas.
Going to tackle the jumpsuit zipper, the rest of the collar, and the bitchy wrist cuffs. Pray for me. 🙏🏾
How it started.
How it’s going.
Halloween shenanigans! Finished Nurse Joy costume, Trunk or Treat yesterday with my friend at her church, and Zumba this morning with last year’s Supergirl ‘fit to get my time and money’s worth out of it again.
I love this holiday.
Back to work on my Strawberry Shortcake cosplay. It is bulky because the calico I used is heavy and better suited for quilting, and also because I was a size and a half bigger when I made it last year during quarantine. No biggie. The striped stockings I bought are just a hair too snug and too short, so I will perhaps cut off the feet to gain a little length and keep the crotch from basketing itself between my thighs. Gonna make the hat tomorrow to the best of my ability.
